If a political party (like the ID) was serious about free'ing the South Africa telecoms market would you think twice about voting for them?

most definitely .. right now .. any political party that can accomplish this will have my vote :)

The idea of this thread is kinda to that. if enough people pipe up, it will become more of a political issue.

I will speak to the ID's telecommunications MP, Vincent Gore, and ask him to give an official statement (specifically for the MyADSL community) from the ID about:
1) Their view of telecoms in SA
2) The ID's policy in parliament and on the parliamentary portfolio on telecommunications

I think I have a good enough idea on what their policies are, but obviously I am not in a position to speak on behalf of the ID.

In the meantime, I have emailed several parties and told them that my next vote will be based purely on which opposition party is the most active in changing the telecoms situation in SA. Why don't you do the same? Most of the parties spend millions on conducting surveys asking people what issues bother them. Save them a buck and email them and tell them directly. Remember, strong parties = strong democracy.

I'd do what I'll always do, the one with the prettiest logo wins. This does change wildly as I'm usually drunk when I go and vote...

Thats why democracy in Russia was non-existant: too much Vodka and people like you!! :D

Seriously, though, I'd vote for the ID too, if they could free us from the grip that is Telkom! Oh, and I can vote...

Bwahaha classic :D I'll vote for the party providing free beer!

Nice and well, so - next elections everyone is touting better, cheaper telecoms...
End result = nothing.
I think that the AWAKE parties should do this themselves without us reminiding them what we want, cos that's just false anyway...
