Okay, let me first start out by saying I am spending about 3,000 dollars on a new PC built for gaming, and on my games list is World of Warcraft. But unfourtunately, I am stuck with the most evil thing that has ever existed....dial-up.
After literally spending weeks trying to find alternative options, basically I got the same "sorry, we don't really give a damn about you, even though you don't live way out in the country, you still are out of our puny little 12,000 feet area. Go milk a cow"
So that's right; DSL....nope; Cable....nope; T1....nope; Wireless....nope.
Ahh, it's neverending.
So I recently found out about this whole ISDN thing, and it's seeming to be my last hope for good online gaming.
Okay, I have a somewhat knowlegeable degree on this after all I've been reading, but my question is:
For strictly online gaming, ping times, and latency, what is the difference if I were to go with a 64kbps and a 128kbps? I've been hearing that for gaming, they both provide the same pings, so why would I pay 100 dollars a month for 128, when I could get the same performance for the 64 for half the price?
I understand downloading patches and such would be different, but hell, one day a month for a patch at a few hours opposed to one hour, I can handle.
Someone please enlighten me. I sincerely hope my assumptions are true, because paying 100 dollars a month for 128 is impossible. If 64kbps provides the same latency, then I'll be sooo happy I'll wet myself.
I appreciate your 'alls time.
