Just curious here - are there others like me that just don't care/know about this soccer thing doing the rounds? Apparently it is a pretty big (worldwide) phenomenon and it is coming to South Africa in month or so.

I know it is the sole reason to blame for lots of delays and inconveniences at airports (that are getting changed) and roads (also getting changed). It is also used as a hype (for advertising) and the promotion of this "vuvuzela" thing that makes noise.

Now I understand a lot of people are into this kind of thing and they are happy about - good for them. I am glad they have something to smile about and to live for. After all, you don't go around telling 4 year olds with a sparkle in their eye on Christmas eve that there is no Santa - its just nasty.

However - I am a bit gatvol of this soccer this and fifa that and I want to know if there are others like me?

no there are quite a few other women around who feel the same way

not limited to soccer alone , I also feel a f..k about rugby

test cricket is the only sport worth watching imo

I don't mind it, however I do have one thing to say

Gareth Cliff is a Douchebag.

Yesterday morning a women phoned in and said that the Lotto Donated 1 or 2 million to bafana bafana...
Gareth said he thinks it's a good idea, while the woman stated that it could have been used for charities, to which Gareth replied some charities are dodgy. he then cut her off.

This morning she phones back, and said she did some research on this, and it turns out that the lotto has funded bafana bafana with over a 100 million rand (R135 Million if I heard correctly)
He had nothing to respond to that, and decided to talk over her, while she was talking - he had NOTHING to say about this, and just ignored her again

I agree with this woman - I understand soccer balls are expensive and these bafana guys need millions of rands to train and party too, but 100 Million Rand could have funded a LOT of charities

IIRC the lotto is supposed to donate to Organizations that help the poor, sick & needy - Not to fund a single Soccer Team.

Not being able to go to the rugby in your own city and the small talk at work about it? Bull****

Actually - I really don't like any sport. Its one of the reasons I downgraded my DStv from Premium to Select2. I really freaking hate ball sports (all of them) and Olympics (OMG how I hate olympics!).
Motorsport is acceptable but I rarely watch it - maybe 5 minutes a year if I am very bored.

What is this "soccer"?

Aren't you in the wrong forum then ? :erm:
Why would you go to Loftus to declare your hatred for rugby...:erm:

I would love to be in a stadium packed with 90 000 people all enjoying watching a sport, singing songs and .. man ... that atmosphere!
And, the opportunity was right here, at my fingertips, to get to participate in that.
I don't give a flying hoot about what sport is being watched, it's the atmosphere I want to experience.

But I could not secure a ticket, so now it means nothing to me.

Seems nobody cares about the poor in this country, or that the lotto is funding bafana with millions of rands

You are not the only one. I don't hate it, just cannot get so excited about it, in fact I wish it was over already so the hype would die down.
I bet you SA's gonna have one hell of a hangover after this.

ps. Gareth Cliff is the inverse of a coconut & 5fm has become such a lame pandering-to-the-masses station. I used to listen to them all the time, find that I'd rather switch off than listen to the kuk music they play nowadays.

The country cannot cater to only the needs of the poor...some of us do appreciate some leisure/entertainment and we are able and willing to pay for it. What's the problem?
