Where is the venue??
This event, sponsored by Corex, will take place at the Acacia Air base from 4 - 11 July.
And can normal people like me go play etc, or is it only for ranked players?

Wow, what a brilliantly marketed event.
NOT.
This is the first time I've heard of it, there's no news about it on the Corex website, I've seen nothing else online about it, not even on PC Formats website.
Yeah, really bodes well for 2010 if they can't even get a website together for it !
And Google brings up ?
http://www.google.co.za/search?hs=uV7&hl=en&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial&q=%22Cape+Cyber+Sports+Challenge%22&btnG=Search&meta=
Diddley squat.
Oh wait, here's an ITWeb article :-
http://www.itweb.co.za/sections/computing/2005/0507050818.asp?S=Gaming&A=GAM&O=S
Dated July 5th indicating the event starts on July 4th.
Am I getting my wires crossed here and this is for next year ?
Yes, I agree, lovely marketing. I found the website, mostly by luck:
www.lan2k.com
I shall look into dragging my laptop over there at some stage this week.

Hmmm, i saw this on www.langames.co.za. Didnt pay much attention to it, cause it had like 180 invites with like 10 people accepting the invite. Jong, i'll rather attend next weekends Organized Chaos event.
I actually wanna drop by the base just to see what the turnout was. Its quite easy to get there if anybody else wishes to go check it out. Would have been an awesome bash if all seats are full!

I knew about it in December last year I think - they were meant to be holding a 6000 Man LAN @ Canal Walk  ...when most people are on holiday.
Therefore they postponed it to April..but this was a "test" event to how many gamers there are in Cape Town. Apparently this was a "success" (300 pitched up ) by the organiser and and there we have it.
The main LAN is now on.
PS: Yes it is -very- bad marketing since it only appeared in the Cape Argus yesterday and I know all this because I browse the Prophecy forums.
Just search "Lan2k" there and you'll read a 9 page thread ;)
