Zimbabwe to give North Korea two baby elephants

Zimbabwean is planning to give North Korea two baby elephants as a gift, but conservationists fear the animals are unlikely to survive the journey from their African home.

A herd of elephants. President Robert Mugabe is planning to give two baby elephants to North Korea.

The 18-month-old elephants have been captured from the wild and are intended as a present for North Korean President Kim Jong Il from his long-time ally, Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe.

Zimbabwe Conservation Task Force said the elephants were being held in pens in the western Hwange National Park, along with pairs of zebras, giraffes and several species of antelopes bound for North Korea.

Nothing like sending the poor beasts to their death :mad:
 
This may be in violation of UN arms embargo. Elephants where used to great effect in previous wars.

Picture the scene on Korean border. 2 elephants, each with about 20 NK troops hanging on for dear life(or dear leader), charging a battalion of M1 Abrahams tanks...........

Might work. Yanks may think twice about shooting as this will anger the environmentalists back home.
