I am looking at buying a new Kia Picanto Striker Automatic.
I am trying to look for the internet for the Dealer cost price / wholesale price, so i can do some bargaining at the dealers.
Any idea how do i find it? Possible?
Or does anyone know?

A few tips on a good place with good price to buy that car is appreciated as well

they dont release that stuff. that way they can ride you good and hard. if people new wholesale they would never sell any cars..

As far as I know the dealers sign an agreement not to sell below a certain margin. They can push this down if you have a trade-in and that's why they can give you more for the trade-in, because on the books the selling price of the new car is within their margin.

Apply for a job at Kia and work your way up to a managers position, get the relevant pricing you need and move on with the rest of your life.
The other option would be to ask for a fleet salesman

:erm: lol?

You seem to have a bit of a misguided opinion as to dealers' retained margins. Most dealers retain well below 10% profit on the sale of a new car, thus I don't expect KIA to be willing to move much on a Picanto - R5k off the price and they'd make near no money on the transaction.

As for the manufacturers' margins on their sale TO the dealers... that's a whole different kettle of fish.

That would be illegal.
Dealers are supplied with a recommended selling price. What they decide to sell it for, be be more, or less, that is their decision.

We've had this discussion before.

Don't forget that this is SA and the dealers and manufacturers stick to a very rigid price structure - whether you think it's illegal or not!

When I worked for VW we were given lists of prices and discounts and if you ignored it you were in danger of losing your dealership, end of story.

I used to be in the motor industry, dealer margins at that time were all around 18%. I doubt that this has changed.

So, how many Bentleys did you sell...? ;) That's a bit of an unfair blanket statement; I've worked for various brands over a period approaching 6 years, and I've never seen anything above 12%. Saying things like you just did perpetuates the image that dealerships are out to screw every prospective client out of as much money as they possibly can on each & every transaction. I'd love to be able to start with 18% available - would especially make getting trade-ins settled a whole lot easier.

Oh, and Fazda, at least I haven't seen that document... :erm:

When I was at Lindsay Saker we were given monthly price updates and very strict parameters in which to work. They may have relaxed this recently, but I know of a couple of dealers who lost their status with VW due to over discounting.

So the price is inflated at the manufacturer?

It sure as hell ain't at dealership level - my lifestyle would be markedly different if it was. Dealers tend to just about get by. I don't think anyone this side of the Porsche Centers is exactly raking it in...
