Inter coach Jose Mourinho has announced he will leave the club after delivering a historic treble by winning the Champions League in Madrid.

"My work here is done. I have made history with this club. I will find motivations in another big club. Playing against Barcelona in Spain? That would be a big challenge," he told the Rai Sport after the game.

Mourinho is leaving Italy in ways he knows best as he takes a parting shot at Calcio.

"I have been very happy at Inter, but not in the world of Italian football because I don't like all the comments from presidents, coaches and papers. But, I will always like Inter," he added.

"I want to thank Italian football because I have become a better coach for it. Now it's time for me to take a day or two to think about a new challenge in another country.

"I have given everything for this team and I feel free to make a decision on my future. I want to become the first coach to win the Champions League with three different clubs. Only Real Madrid are interested in me but I have not signed any contract yet."

And, the country and club couldn't have been clearer, especially after waving a goodbye gesture to the Nerazzurri fans inside the Bernabeu with tears rolling down his eyes.

Asked whether he would be joining Real Madrid he told Sat.1: "Yes."

Jose Mourinho likely to quit as Inter Milan manager

Jose Mourinho has admitted he is likely to leave Inter Milan after guiding the Nerazzurri to an historic Treble.

The Portuguese, whose side beat Bayern Munich 2-0 to win the Champions League final on Saturday, has been constantly linked with Spanish giants Real Madrid.

After becoming only the third coach to win Europe's top club prize with two clubs, he said: "I'm so sad as almost for sure it's my last game with Inter.

"If you don't coach Real Madrid then you always have a gap in your career."

The 47-year-old former Chelsea boss added: "It was difficult to leave Chelsea and it will be sad to leave Inter. Inter is my house in the same way Chelsea was my house. But that's life, that's football.

"Now I have two houses, Stamford Bridge, San Siro and now a third house - probably the Santiago Bernabeu.

"Only Real are interested in me but I haven't spoken with anyone and I haven't signed anything. I promised I'd speak after the final.

"I believe my target now is to win another championship that I've never won and win Champions League with third club and then come back to England.

"Everybody knows that English football is my passion and I will go back to England once."

Mourinho, who joined Inter in 2008, has also won two Serie A titles and an Italian Cup.

"When I win I don't stop and here [in Italy] I have won everything. I've won the Champions League with two clubs and I can do it with three," he reflected.

"There are many things [in Italy] that I haven't liked and for three to four months I've been thinking of going.

"I've entered into Inter's history, I don't want to speak much because if I do I'll cry and I don't want to do that.

"I want a different challenge in my career, now is the time to decide. What's important for Inter is that [president Massimo] Moratti and [captain Javier] Zanetti stay."

In all the post-match drama, it was easy to forget that Inter had become European champions for the first time in 45 years thanks to two goals from Argentina striker Diego Milito.

And the goalscoring hero hailed his coach as the mastermind behind the Italian side's Champions League victory.

"Mourinho deserves this the most. He is great coach and he deserves all of the credit for this success," the matchwinner stated.

"This is the team that he has made. He made many changes to the team that finished last year and we have come so far."

Milito was one of the players brought in by Mourinho last summer after Zlatan Ibrahimovic departed for Barcelona.

"I want to thank Inter, the president and the coach for wanting to sign me last summer - I am so happy to be here at Inter," Milito added.

"What I feel now is a joy I have never felt before, an incredible joy. I am so happy for Inter because we have been waiting for so long and we deserved this trophy."

Meanwhile, Inter president Massimo Moratti has revealed Mourinho cried after the side's victory, but hopes the coach was not shedding tears ahead of an imminent departure.

"I didn't cry, but Mourinho did and a lot - I hope they were not from a sense of guilt," Moratti said.

"The players were wrapped up in joy; it's an infinite joy, it's marvellous."

I dont think ths guy can be a long term manager. It always seems like he moves from club to club.

If he keeps on denying it then the whole evening would be about journo's asking him whether he is going or not like what happended the night when man utd won the cl and they kept asking ronaldo whether he is staying. After jose confirmed it we could get on with celebrating instead of journo asking that annoying question.

No hard feelings towards mou we knew he doesn't stay long at any club. Fact is he is now only second to mister H in the history of our club as far as managers go. 5 trophies in 2 season is a great achievement.

Now we will celebrate and then the search for the new guy will begin. Preseason starts 17 July but I am sure mister branca and the president has someone lined up.

It's the one title that eluded him, had he won the CL with Chelski then he can claim dominance on 4 countries... I mean where to next if/should he win the CL with RM?
He'd definately want that EPL title too...

I think once he's done at Real he'll either go to England or coach international

Dude he won it twice! with Chelsea what are you on aboot?
 
I think he'll land up at City after RM - the man likes a challenge and Serie A was a bit of a walkover for him
 
ok lets put it this way what I was saying is: JM hasn't won the CL with a EPL team yet.

He's won it at Porto, he's won it at Inter, he wants to go try in Spain and he'll most definately want to try with the Champions league with a EPL to add to his CV...

You didn't make yourself clear at all.. Coz you said dominance with 4 Leagues, but for him it's only been two so far. There's no way of knowing he'll win the CL with RM.
