Any idea why there isn't a Skype client for Android? iPhone has one, surely we should too?

Nimbuzz seems pretty good.

Last time I tried it (few months ago) with Skype there was no groupchat support. I just got spammed with chat windows from everyone in the group. Fring had the same problem. I'm a Symbian user (Nokia 5800) so your experience might be different. Symbian has an official Skype client that supports group chats but Fring is still the only one that supports video chat.

if you had any idea of the battle raging between handset manufacturers and cell networks on the topic of VoIP, its a miracle the iPhone even has one.

I'd be quite happy without the VoIP function. Quite honestly if they can let you connect to a Wifi network then the VoIP argument should fall away.

Skype lite still works. Only text chat as far as I can see -
