I've always mocked JK8 and I need to take it back now after these times.

He obviously annihilates the GTI and ST (so I won't even start to compare ...) - but checking a few tests he's quicker than an Audi S3 (14.7 @ 158km/h) and only marginally slower than both a 135i (14.4 @ 167kmh). You even got a higher exit speed than a 3.5 twin turbo ;)

With software, I reckon you'll seriously be giving those M3s a fright up here ....
 
Who cares? Polo GTis are crap.

If you want a fast car get something proper like an M3, RS4/RS3 etc. Not these small hatch supercar wannabes (which fail at it btw)

The Polo GTI is only marginally behind the 135i - that's pretty impressive in my books
 
Nice work JK8! How does that compare to other stock cars using the same engine?
 
Wow on the day I was slower than some other cars obviously. I was just happy I beat a Corsa OPC.
Weird standard 135s were doing 13s on Sunday.

As I've said before on the C30 post, it's sometimes got to do with a really good driver. To be so close to a 135i either means you really good off the line in your Polo GTI, or the guy driving the 135i doesn't know how to drive and this annoys me coz I can't afford a car like this, and then you get okes who can, but don't know how to drive them properly!!

It doesn't matter how good you are off the line, a standard Polo GTI will not achieve that time.

JK8 can prove his time by posting a scan of the printout that he would have received.

I am trying to look for results....cant find any yet....besides, that time can be achieved with a mod'd gti...so a scan of the times etc would not mean much
I have very strong doubts a stock pgti can pull this time...
For someone who sounds like they love racing etc....it boggles me that he doesnt just step up and go at it with someone on the forum who could validate it???
 
I simply don't believe that a stock PGti can be doing times comparable with 135s and STIs.
 
I've driven the Polo GTi before and yeah sure, it's a hot little dinky toy. Fast, but it's got it's limits. It's great for robot to robot racing though :P
I took a spin in a new RS4 the other day though...../whoooosh...... damn that car is bloody fast. There's no other words to describe it. It's hard to get even remotely smooth shifts when your foot is flooring the accelerator!
 
A standard Polo GTi cannot achieve that time regardless of how good the driver is. Trust me, a standard Polo GTI will be looking for parking against an S3 or a 135i. A Revo Stage 2+ S3 posted an M5 matching 12.9s quarter mile time (exit speed slower than M5 though). Just comparing the times, not the cars ;)
 
Wait...Dolby, were you actually THERE when JK9 did that time...coz that's quick dude!

What gets me is that, a standard 156GTA with 184kw will do the 1/4mile in 14.4 secs...(so too does a 3.2 GT with DUTCH exhaust)

A modified one with 3.8 bore will do it just under 13 secs...those 135 and M3's MUST SURELY be doing faster times!

Somethings not quite right...a 200kw modded ST sits with a GTA but tears it to pieces from 1st to 3rd...how then, does JK9's GTi with phantom mods achieve a 14.4...stock M3s(e46) run those times...some even quicker...something's not quite right.

Just one thing on that modded ST vs GTA - altitude plays a huge role and I'd put my money on STANDARD Focus ST at the reef.

Perhaps that 14.4 time for the GTA is up here where it doesn't breathe?

I raced a Porsche Boxster S (206kw/320nm) (3.2l and 6.3 to 100km/h at coast) that I'm a half a bonnet ahead of from standstill to 140km/h before turning off
