England will faced many obstacles as they chase World Cup glory in South Africa, but here's one they weren't expecting - dealing with deadly snakes near their World Cup base.
Killer pythons, spitting cobras, puff adders and black mambas

The medical unit has been stocked with anti-venom if any of England's stars are unlucky enough to be bitten, according to the Sun.

The players will also be banned from fields after dark.

Local health chief Dr Keba Mokgethi said: 'We have prepared for emergencies. Anti-venoms are among the medicines stocked. We will sit with the team and tell them they may encounter snakes.'
The electric fence around the base can stop pythons, but not smaller poisonous species.
The black mamba is a particularly deadly snake, with enough venom in a bite to kill several people.
The England squad arrive in Rustenburg on June 3, ahead of their first World Cup match against the United States on June 12.
Before that, England face a friendly against Mexico at Wembley on Monday night and a match against Japan in Austria next weekend.

Anyone see the pic of the place in the article...? Very nice.
So the locals & hotel stuff who have live in the area all their life have developed an immunity to these snakes (which I am unsure inhabit those parts of the country). I am not sure how you develop an immunity to the non-venomous python, but I'm sure the dailyfail will investigate.

Yep - snakes and other nasties are to be found in most hotel rooms, the local KFC and man-eating pythons are frequently seen wrapped around goal-posts quietly waiting for an English keeper.

Imagine the panic when they find out about the lions and tigers roaming the streets.

This is the kind of rubbish that makes it to foreign shores that annoys me. Killer pythons?? :wtf:

It's The Daily Mail. Even the Brits don't take it seriously.

You do know that each of those players is worth tens of millions of UK Pounds?

Yup imagine when those snakes organize their attack, going to chomp the entire team. I know the snakes have a back up plan if they fail. The lions are set to back them up if england resist their efforts.

Chatter is off the chart in the animal world, we have been tracking the giraffe terrorist group for sometime now and think they are ready to strike.

Ja, I had this problem all the time when I was in Rustenburg.... ok well maybe once.... OK, well it never actually happened, but I heard a story about it.

Who cares how much they are "worth"?

I'm sure if the whole team was eaten by the killer pythons (with support from the lions) that some other players would eventually fill the gap and be worth "millions of pounds". Besides, this could increase our chances of winning :D

My cousin's sisters nephew's brothers barber's uncle told him that his poker friend's sister's great great grandfathers' 2nd cousin twice removed got killed by a black mamba AND a python, and all he did was walking down the street in Rustenburg, police think the incident was gang related.. I know this to be true as i read it on a blog once...

I wonder how many otherwise useless Health and Safety "Executives" England bloody England sent along with their pansy-boys...
