getting 1.5 megs(i think) a sec download speeds

Hey guys just wanted to tell you all that i am getting 1.5 megs download speed with msn here in capetown downloaded a 700 meg movie from one computer to the other in 20 minutes!!!!!!! :D :cool:
 
then you will not in your wetest dream get 1.5mbs. The person you were downloading through MSN on. Where they also on your local network?
 
I always have a laugh at threads like this.
 
Okay, now all you have to do is try open the 700mb file and find that it is actually a corrupt 20mb file, and then wake up and your journey is complete.
 
512 line will get about 250mb an hour...

trust me (if you want to)...i had a 512 line for many years.

1gb in 4 hours, like clockwork....

also, if you were on msn, then the other person was uploading, so if he had 512 line also, he has probably 256 upload, so...1gb in 8 hours...
 
It's MSN. We all know how trustworthy Microsoft products's time measurement, and guesttimates are... :)

Copy from A:\ to C:\. 5 minutes remaining. 10 minutes remaining (10 minutes later) 30 seconds remaining (2 minutes later) 5 minute remaining.

I've been complaining about Microsofts time calculations for years now. How fcking hard can it be to make one that actually works? They can program paperclips that intelligently annoy me at strategic times, but they can't accurately tell me how long my 2MB file will take to copy. Bah.

20 minutes for a film? that means he is trying to honestly make me believe he is on a 10mbit line
 
ok heres the situation, i have wireless setup in my house! i logon to msn with a pc which has no wireless then i log on to my laptop pc with another msn login then i transfered a 700 meg file to the wireless computer through msn(internet) in 20 minutes oh and my wireless card doesnt support 10 meg trasfer!! speeds..if you want i can make a movie for you guys to see the speed for you selves

yes, you already said that and trust me its impossible, you're only on a 512 line

Ok let me put this in perspective, you cannot cache MSN, its not cached on any server and you have a 512 pipe there. Then you tell us you downloaded at 4536kbit/s, thats 4Mbit.

It didn't happen, you're either making it all up or you're stupid enough to trust a download meter when it's showing buffered data. I only have a 1mbit connection, but I can download with download accelorator, press pause, wait for some data to get buffer and press resume and it will count rh buffered data and show 800KB/s... but that doesn't mean I'm getting 800KB/s.

Here's the thing, and don't get offended, but you're the type of guy who gets a movie over MSN.... you see what I'm saying? On the internet that makes you... well... stupid (no offence, but normal people use USENET, torrents, scene FTPs even XDCC bots on IRC, but MSN is for the kinda bottom level email idiot types who read/send chain mail and subscribe to silly news letters)

So NO, you didn't get 4mbit speeds, also remember your friend would need at least a 4mbit upload to send that fast, even in countries where you get 100mbit home connections they limit your upload to 1mbit MAXIMUM. By the way the Telkom ADSL is only capable of 1.5mbit because they were cheap when installing lines and went for the splitterless option according to tibby.dude so give it a rest
