Windows 7: Connection slowdown with Samsung phone and Tune Up Utilities 2010

What i discovered you probably know.
For 2 months i was running retail 32bit win7,but my internet speed was a disaster 1hour/3mb file.
I started up vmware and ran xp in it,got the drivers and hooked up the phone as a modem.connected to the network and vola very fast speeds:wtf:.

i have concluded that there is something in win7 that restricts browsing speed .
I found it strange when pings in windows 7 was fast(hsdpa)but browsing with firefox was very slow and downloads speeds was absurd.
From now on i will be using vmware with xp to brows and download until there is a fix
 
It might just be a hardware specific problem in win7 with your pc you know?

mine seems to restrict me to only 4 meg line speed :mad:

I haven't had any problems with what you say, though i have noticed that some of the software that comes with the 3g cards is better than others
 
What DNS Server addresses are you using? Maybe you specified the wrong DNS addresses in Win7, but set it to automatic in XP.
 
Check that Win7 isn't doing updates.
Check that you are using the right device drivers.

Win7's performance monitor is pretty awesome. You could check all the processes that are accessing the internet and monitor the amount of bandwidth they're using.
 
I've never had any net problems with win7. Speeds seem no different from any other windows I've used.

I'm sure its something like what the others mentioned.
 
I have been using Windows 7 since RC1 and have had no issues. What phone are you using for a modem? Maybe the drivers it has for Windows 7 are flaky? Have you tested a USB modem on your Windows 7 machine?
 
Used Win 7 32bit and 64bit and we fly at 6.5Mbs D/L no problems.
 
THe reason why i say there is a problem with win7 retail is that all the previous version which i ran including 64 bit all worked with the exact drivers.This i ran from when win7 beta was out already,but since the retail version the speed is not there anymore.I have looked at various scenarios and still cant find what id restricting the speeds...but the strange thing is that the pings are like fast,i mean really fast. 190ms(win7).Download 1.5mb/s(xp)...etc

running win 7 pro 32 bit retail and i get max speed. Limit for me is my usb modem only supports 7.2 but i max it out quite often, so im happy

So you still have not told us:
1) What phone you are using
2) If you have tested it with another device

This thread really is not helping anyone without you supplying useful details.

2-yes i have with usb modem...still same result:cry:

I remember 3 months back i used tune up utilities 2010 to tune my internet connection .This changed registry values i think,but since then i deleted it after a few week as it was starting to become bloat ware.:erm:

I dont thinkthere is a restore point before the installation,and no bkup registry was made..damnit

Think it might be the Samsung.

Definitely not Tune Up 2010, I've been using Tune Up for years and have never experienced a slowdown with it, rather a nice boost in speed.

If you want to change the values TuneUp supposedly changed, just reinstall it, change the values back and delete it. ;)

me to been using tuneup for years but the 2010 version sucks with auto features which i really dont want.Did you see the services tune up run in your process manager in windows 7.I hate this

At first I was sceptical about the auto features, but have been running it on my notebook for a while and actually start to like it. I'm very lazy when it comes to pc maintenance. :)

Every Windows 7 pc needs Google Chrome, Microsoft Security Essentials & Tune Up Utilities as a good foundation.
