Good day...

I just want to know... what happens to these two when they have a fight? Which one is better?

Sapphire HD5450 (DDR 2-512MB)
9400GT 1024MB

I'm planning to get a graphics card, but I don't know which one to get...

Sapphire HD5450 (DDR 2-512MB) (new)
9400GT 1024MB (second hand)

They come to around about the same price from where I'm getting them... So I just want to know which one would be better to use.. (For gaming... )

THanks

not sure but a 9400gt must be a really, really crap card (no offense) as I had a 8500gt and it was worthless

what is your budget firstly? (maybe you can go for a 2nd hand, or an older generation (but better model) ATI card?)

edit: how about this card?

Geforce GTS 240 512MB DDR3, D-sub, DVI,HDMI
R 725 excl.
R 826 incl.

See if you can get a 4650 or 4670. Will be much better for gaming.

For gaming both are going to be terrible :(
Im sure you can get something much better for about R500 second hand.

Well my budget is around like R500-R650... So yeah..

I'm assuming that's new? That's a bit over my budget... But is that a good card? Because if it is.. (For gaming... ) I think I might go for it.. Just trying to find something that doesn't lag... And can have ok/good graphics playing recent games..

I will try.. but what is the difference?

Oh and what is better? Nvidia or ATI? Like in terms of pricing... I heard from a friend a few days ago that there was something called physics... On the NVidia card... so what is good on the ATI?
I sold my 8800GT last week for R500.

See if you can find a similar deal, MUCH MUCH better for gaming.

Well I was looking at the 8600GT... but is the 8-series almost like the now 2-series?

My 8800GT still kicks butt but the 8500GT was a really crappy card.
What is your budget?

8800GT.. I see... Well somewhere in the ad I saw a 9600GT what about that one?

My budget (sori didn't mention before..) it's around R500-650... I guess I can push it up to R700...

take the 5450, it came out much later than the 9400. But i would rather save and get something that would last longer.

Those gfx cards are mainly for multimedia. If you want to watch 1080 and so on they're ideal. They are NOT for gaming. There is no alternative to spending money. You just can't game on a 9400.

Well it depends on what kind of games you're looking to play.
I think there's a difference between gaming and just wanting to play a couple of games here and there.

Unfortunately, your budget isn't gonna get you much new. If you want to play older games the 4650, 5550 or 9600GT will be just fine.
But if you're looking to play games like Far Cry 2, Battlefield Bad Company 2 etc, you stand no chance.

Buying second-hand isn't necessarily scary - have a look at http://www.carbonite.co.za/ (which is the old Prophecy forum)
There are a lot of reputable guys on there flogging hardware everyday

Here's a 8800GTX for R850: http://www.carbonite.co.za/showthread.php/1138-Nvidia-Geforce-8800-GTX-768Mb-Alpha-Dog-For-Sale

Else if you can R50 more, this is a deent card: http://www.rebeltech.co.za/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=5_7&products_id=3418

Here is an XFX 8800 ULTRA, that would be so much better than anything you're planning on getting.
Ask around, the first XFX cards had 10 year local warranty if you registered as far as I know.

I see.. Sigh... but I stay in cape town.. I see they are all somewhere else...

But thanks for the offering...

I was just hoping to play some games.. (Kind of alot.. but not alot.. ) Around average... But want to play: DMC 4, AC 1 & 2, Batman.. you know.. those type of games.. Anything.. Thanks

You won't be able to play those games with those cards. Everyone here is right. You're just going to have to dig a bit deeper.
