InfoSlips "Viewer connects to internet

Anyone else noticed that the new "infoslips" program used to read vodacom's account statements tries to connect to the internet when its only supposed to open local content?

Thank you for your post. I would like to explain what the InfoSlips Viewer is doing and the purpose.

The InfoSlips Viewer is designed to work either in an offline mode (when there is no connectivty) or online mode (when there is connectivity). In other words you can view your Vodacom bill without connectivity. It is designed not only open local content but also offer online content - designed to enhance the user experience.

The reason it attempts to connect the internet is for the following reasons:

1. It looks for upgrades / new versions of the InfoSlips Viewer. If an upgrade is available, it will prompt the user to download the new / latest version. This is common behaviour for applications.

2. InfoSlips can be supplemented with online content. In the case of the Vodacom InfoSlip the online content is usually:
a) The Vodacom "Now" Magazine (Too big to be included in an email)
b) Links and opens the Vodacom website

In addition an online view (No InfoSlips Viewer required) is also available via a link from your email body.

Hope this explains it in enough detail. Please post any further questions or issues and I will be happy to reply.
