2 PC's + 2 Routers + 1 Phone Line + 1 ISP Account = HELP?

Hey folks!

So my brother and I both have computers in our individual rooms. Both computers have Billion 400G Routers.

Upon installlation my Router works perfectly and the Internet light flashes and stays Green. I am able to access the internet on my router.

When installing my brothers Router, all the lights are green except the Internet light which flashes Red. We are unable to access the internet on his router.

Both computers have Windows 7.

Someone please enlighten this n00b on how to get both PC's on the internet utilizing just ONE account, on one phone line at the same time?

Is it possible? Would we need two seperate accounts?

Could we connect if we activated the Wireless on my Router and had my brother enable his Routers wireless and had him find the connection?
 
get rid of your brothers router and then connect his pc to your router using either cat5 or a wireless dongle.

Cat5 seems too messy to run a cable that far and to do so neatly.

Could we not use my brothers Routers Wireless instead of a Wireless Dongle?

If it is able to be used in client mode and bridged sure.
 
To avoid messy cables...
If you have phone lines already layed in both of your rooms you can connect both the routers to each line make sure you have filters.
Setup the router so they use the same ISP and cable your PC to the router in each room - Wifi dongles are $h!t
You can sync two routers simultaneously on one line and most ISP support 4 concurrent sessions
Teh only down side with this is you wont have a LAN to each other - share printers etc.

Hiya! Thanks for the reply. I've set up the router to use the same ISP and when you say cable the PC to the router in each room are you refering to me linking PC A to PC B via the Ethernet cable?

How would I go about syncing two routers simultaneously to one phone line and ISP Account?

You are the first person I have ever heard of that can do this. AFAIK you cannot put more than one router on a single telephone line.

The best options are :

1: Run a network cable (trust me this is best for speed and you will be able to LAN)
2: Make the one Router a wireless client (Most routers wont support this, check if it has the ability to act as a wireless extender or a wireless bridge)
3: Get a wifi dongle for one of the PC's

Hiya! Oddly my brothers does not work when I disconnect mine. The Internet let refuses to Sync (all the other lights are Green) and stays Red.

When I switch his Router to my PC it works and when vice versa it refuses to work on his PC with the Internet light never syncing.

Which makes me think it could be how we installed the cables but I dont think its that.

Awesome thank you for the advice.

With regards to my brothers router not working even when I swtitch mine off, would the Network cable still be an option?
 
Looks like a problem with the line in your brother's room, btw found this on axxess website :

Cons

No fixed IP address. Only Dynamic IP address.
1 concurrent connection.
Not for heavy downloading.

I would rather just connect his pc to your router in your room via lan or wifi...
 
Yes but then you don't really need his router do you ? You can just run the network cable direct to his PC.
If you want to use his router (to connect other machines in his room) then you have to turn off the routing functions on his router so it acts as a normal switch and then giving it a static IP.
 
You can setup wireless on your router and your brother can connect wirelessly to your router and if the signal strength is not good you can buy a wifi dongle just to boost it.You can not connect two router's in one line otherwise your routers wont synch,you might need to check this with your service provider about your line.:)
 
Cable is the best solution, about 10X faster than the closest wi-fi speeds

2 routers is the problem, get a wireless network card (or if you really ust a usb dongle). or set one up as an AP/repeater if its possible.
