best Video Card for home PC - Work only

Hi
Can anyone recommend a video card for me, for home use (developement) and work only, no gaming, and where to get it in Cape Town.

Budget is about R1000-00 neg.

Are you going to do any 3D work on the card? or is it just email and word docs?
 
If for just email/docs get more RAM and a cheapie card fr the R1K.
 
rather skip the card, and use the onboard, and improve on another part of it... like ram or hdd...
 
Why do you want a graphics card? Multiple monitors or business graphics?
 
No 3d work, just programming in Visual Studio etc, as well as the odd slide show etc of all accumulated pics of my kids
 
Then a motherboard with integrated graphics, or absolutely any cheapy graphics card will do. Get a 5450, then you can still branch out to multiple displays with ease later
 
No point if only going to be used for email, documents etc.

Unless you need a quadro for design, multiple monitors or HD video stick to onboard.
 
If you do want a graphics card, go for a cheap one like a Geforce 8400GS, 512MB card.

I would also suggest that you rather upgrade your RAM/HDD first...
