Can you feel it? It's here! :D

I'll kick it off with a few from Friday's opener in Cape Town -

Here are some of the stadium, all hand-held with a cell phone or a small P&S (so they're all out of focus :o) -

Sweet photos SiriS! Here are a couple from my 5800 XpressMusic:

I'm definitely taking my digital camera with to tomorrow night's match between Italy and Paraguay! :D

I'm going tonight - guessing they're not going to stop me with a bridge camera?

Also - if I have the worst seats in Ellis, is it worth taking it? Or will I see a green, rectangle field and nothing else? ;)

Anyone get of the players?

One of those action shots is quite a bit harder than I thought without a dSLR ;)

EDIT : Zoom length is actually alright, but when zoomed out fully it gets dark ... and to prevent blurring and 'freeze' action, I set a higher shutter speed which gets it even darker. If I incease ISO to compensate, it gets very grainy on my lil sensor.

Interested in what a entry to mid SLR looks like

I'm not sure if im allowed to upload these photos but if I'm breaking any laws I'll remove it.
I was sitting in the 29th row from the pitch behind the goals and I think this guy was midway between the half way line and goal posts.

Wow - nice!

What shutter speed do you use?
What camera do you have?

First picture was 1/400th and the second was 1/500th. Using a Canon 400D with 70-300mm IS USM lens. I'm going again on Friday and got a Canon 100-400mm L lens to test out :)

Enjoy the dust pump! :)

You're going to be wanting to get a new body soon, me thinks. :D

A new body because of the dust pumping into it from the 100-400mm?
I am planning on getting a new body near the end of the year. I'm really wanting the 7D so I have to find a way to "drop" the camera and claim :D

No, it's just the natural progression when you start playing with nicer glass. :)

I have realized that. I would like something with a higher frame rate and autofocus that will focus on the subject even tho you've recomposed. I was taking a few pictures next to another guy with a 50D and it sucked to have a slow frame rate compared to him.
