Prepaid 128k USIM availibility????

When will the USIM card be available at MTN outlets for us prepaid subscribers? :confused:
 
They should already be available. MTN has had stock ready for distribution since last month. If your Dealer or Service center does not have, they just need to place an order.
 
Are there any physical differences between the USIM and the old 16K sim, apart from the increased storage/capibilities??

And can it be used with a non 3G phone(nokia 3200), cuz my PAYG sim is now broken(swaping phones too often), and i'll need to go and get a new one in the next few days, and i would rather spend the cash on a USIM now, rather than on an old 16/32k sim, and then have to buy a USIM on top of that when i get my new phone in 2 or 3 months time...

The primary differences are the increased storage, and there is an additional authentication component for 3G. This will have impact for 3G roaming, so without the USIM, you will not be able to roam on other 3G networks.

The USIM in principal should be fully backward compatible, and we have done a large amount of testing on legacy handsets, although note that we have not tested every single legacy handset out there :) There should be no problem with the Nokia 3200.

Hi, sorry for kinda OT but reading this reminded me of answers I'M lookin \g for and MTNHandsets here seems to be THE person to ask, so:
-given that there seem to be USIMs available, what about coverage maps/data ..*accurate* data, that is -I've got a site in mind that's kinda in the boonies; I'd say a coupla holes on a golf course distance from the Telskum Crowthorne Teleport.
-beyond that, this query is to use the 3G connection with a desktop PC (though it would be good to consider laptop (ie USB connection) as well); so what'd my hardware options be with that? I'm happy to advise phone if that works out, but it'd be damn handy to know there's a PCCard option too.

No USIMS available!!!

I have phoned 8 MTN outlets and all of them say that they have ordered these prepaid USIMS and not received them as MTN is out of stock.

MTNBB or MTNHS help me please as I'm lookin for 2. It is now 4 weeks and still no joy... :(
 
Please could you PM me the details of the outlets if its possible. I would like to take this up, as we definitely do have stock of Prepaid USIM's.
 
Also went to a shop earlier today, and they've never even heard of USIM's for prepaid. (Didn't push the issue since I was only enquiring about availability - have no need for it at the moment.)

How would this work for new prepaid subscribers? Are there special USIM starter packs, or should one purchase a standard starter pack and then "upgrade" to the USIM when required?

Can u get a pci pcmcia card @ vodaworld, and then stick a 128K MTN sim in it, buy a data bandle and surg 3G speeds on your desktop?

I'm on contract and paid R136.80 for mine, not sure if prepaid will be the same but can't imagine it will be much different.
