Broadband: Put a cap on it, says Telkom

Telkom argues that this is a better deal than MWEB’s 384 Kbps all-in-one uncapped ADSL offering for R349 per month, but this is hardly comparing apples with apples. With MWEB’s uncapped service users can, and often do, use tens of gigabytes per month - making it far cheaper for these users than Telkom’s offerings.

Are these people working from within a mental institution?

With my 384 Mweb uncapped, I can easily get 20/25 Gigs in a month, and this is just browsing and occasional downloading.

It is actually frightening to see how out of touch they are with the sentiment of the people. Do they really think they are pulling the wool over our eyes?

So much for everyone's hopes and expectations of a better deal from these cretins.

I guess it's cheaper to print a pamphlet, than to actually provide a service.

Buffoons.

Ok I will wait until Tuesday to see whether I must end my telkom account.

“It’s unfortunate, but that is what you get when you buy Uncapped Broadband in South Africa. Many service providers talk the talk, but they don’t deliver on their promise,” Telkom says in its newsletter.
What a load of crap, that might be true, but what's the reason behind non delivery, telkoms crappy network and high charges

Very well put. I continue to be stunned by Telkom's sheer moronicity.

I expect at least a quadrupling of speeds (rounded down to the nearest Mb) and a quadrupling of the cap. I am tired of having to watch my usage and not being able to make use of the multi-media content which most websites seem to have today. Now I even have to watch my 5Gb allocation, and I consider the local bandwidth to be just BS no matter how much they give me, even 100Tb a month don't improve the concept one iota.
If Telkom falls short of my expectations I will do what the last sentence in the article suggests.

... and this is their comeback. Neotel, get your **** out of Telkoms ***. Seems like these two companies are pitching for the same team now.

I hope there are some intresting changes to ADSL speeds on Monday then...

Wait a minute. Is this not targeted marketing by Telkom and that is not allowed?

Correct me if I'm wrong. Maybe this is a case for the ASA?

Man... this must be the most idiotic statement from Telscum yet. I do like it though, actually I love the little undertone of desperation in this newsletter.

They're in trouble already, and one should ask why they inflated the line rental fee a bit.

By far the most useless pathetic group of humans on the planet,{ besides Icon Cnstn} too stupid to keep up, so ignorant everything they say or do is a failure and pisses people off, eg, the technician the other week said that the fastest adsl in the world was 5mb/s - plank!, he then continued drooling on the floor and laughing at the wall, best advice is to ignore any posts and threads in the future with anything regarding Telkom as it is always bad news or absolute DONKEY DUNG!!

I also makes me wonder how ICASA can approve Telkom's prices if nothing is known about what they will deliver for it.

Lets compare apples with apples then.. I've just moved to an Axxess R19/GB (unshaped) and so far no problems.
Telkom is approx. R65/GB (blended-shaped).

That a big difference!

I haven't used less than 10GBs per month with MWeb in the past year, and with uncapped that number has only gone higher.

Incredible, just incredible. I can't believe there are still people who are willing to pay for this kind of package. I'm loving my uncapped, and I'm loving it primarily as I don't have to keep one eye on some stupid limit. I'm with Afrihost, not Mweb, but I'm really glad every time I see a Mweb uncapped advert on the telly. Telkom fall into a particular business segment in SA where they rely on consumer ignorance to sell their outdated products. The more Mweb run that advert, the more people will wise up.
Another fantastic disappointment from Telkom. At least they're consistent.

EPIC FAIL like always from Telkom.
It is easy, don't use Telkom ADSL accounts... use other ISP's.
