Leading telecommunications company Sentech today announced a major innovation in its broadband wireless product range with the introduction of MyWireless flexi. Specifically designed as a highly affordable, easy to use, portable internet service offering, it is targeted at first-time buyers of Internet access services, existing users of dial-up modem connections, fixed line broadband users wanting portability and mobility as well as the small business owner who has the need for a more affordable broadband internet package.

I looked at their site but there wasnt a price list for the flexi service. How can they justify calling it affordable?

More to the point how can MyADSL tout it as being affordable?

It is a Sentech press release. Not MyADSL's own words...

There will be a story from MyADSL's point of view later...

Well its an easy assumption to mistakenly make with that subject and the absence of indication that the views of the blurb were anything other than yours. I almost rushed out to get it cos it looked like it had your blessing ;) Good thing I'm wearing lace up shoes today and one had come undone. I'm stuck sitting here now until someone can do it up for me.

Affordable is Sentech code for: Extremely expensive with the worst possible service (next to WBS). So if you want terrible serivce, slow broadband and expensive rates, this is your option!

Please take care!

I have been a member of these forums since near the beginning. Many ADSL users left Telkom to join up with Sentech because it sounded as if they were going to offer effective competition to Telkom. From what I remember, the unhappiness of those people far outstripped the remaining ADSL users and I will be surprised if any of them still use Sentech. Sentech had a golden opportunity to become THE supplier of broadband in South Africa and screwed it totally. So please, before falling for their hipe, search these forums and see whether you can find one happy Sentech user.

RPM, I do believe that a press release citing the past history reflected in these forums should be in order to stop the unsuspecting public to fall for Sentech's smooth PRO scenario and to promote myadsl further.

Leading telecommunications company Sentech

How can they get away with such blatant LIES? Since when has this backwater excuse for a service provider EVER been a leading telecoms company??

Spoke to Karen at the call centre, no idea on pricing yet and it will be released some time in august.

I scanned through there, and picked out the truths. For your edification and for the sake of clarification, I have posted it below:

Sentech is targeted at first-time buyers.

I think that says it all, don't you?

...leading from behind.

i was having a good laugh with that press release
Capitalising on the success of this classic range
(laugh 1)

“The problem with most of the broadband offerings in the marketplace is that you don’t always use what you pay for..
Bwahahaha, rather, you pay for what you don't get...

ranging from as low as 200MB..
are there seriously people who don't use more and want an alternative for dialup?

you can simply carry on surfing at a fixed cost per MB without any capping or throttling of bandwidth...
at a price of R1 per MEG!!!!!! (that's actually not funny)

It is expected that the affordability of Sentech’s new services will encourage product trials by even the most price-sensitive consumers.
Never mind the R2600 modem (either that or signing your life away for 24 months)

thereby growing the market in line with Sentech’s mission of creating broadband access to more of our people.”
Isn't that nice?

THEN... i saw the prices (http://www.sentech.co.za/index.php?module=ContentExpress&func=display&ceid=10)
WHAT A TOTAL RIPOFF !!!(excuse the capslock, but if ever a situation needed it...)

R1999 for a 10 Gig cap - for the uninformed, that is 4 times as much as the old 128K package, wich also has a 10 gig SOFT cap

R499 for the MyWireless flexi 1000 package, with - you guessed correctly a 1gig cap

These people make me sick! they have now officially proved themself more greedy and stupid than Telkom.

No-one will ever sign up for sentech on my recommendation...

I could sell bags of air for an affordable R1 a bag, that still doesn't mean it's not a total ripoff...
