Cellphone radiation and brain cancer: Science or fear mongering?

There is more than enough radio/microwave/x-ray/cosmic radiation out there 24/7 that the use of a cell phone is inconsequential.

Sorry I dont buy that it is safe.
Yes I still use my phone as otherwise I would not have an income but I dont for one second believe it is safe to do so.
 
This is really good news, if it is true. I can't wait for all those rude, arrogant cellphone users to die of brain cancer!
 
I really don't believe that cellphone use can cause brain cancer! My Nokia 6220 Classic has a 3.3 Wh battery with a talk time of 3.5 hours. This means that the phone as a whole is using 0.94 W while I am talking. So in short transmitting radio signals + CPU + screen + Speaker + keylights = 0.94 W. You are exposed to more energy when you are walking outside in sunlight!!!
 
Reminds me a lot of that show "The Doctors" on the Series channel. They can make Coca Cola sound like you're drinking uranium dipped in sulphuric acid

Your cell phone emits radiation (radio waves) at an extremely low power. While this can cause cancer, the fact that there is already so much other (and much more powerful) radiation out there makes the use of a cell phone not that much more dangerous than not using it. Its like saying you'll drown while swimming in the ocean if someone adds another 5 litres. Yes it increases the risk, but not by much.

Well maybe thats why cancer has increased so much perhaps?
As for the cellphone? Thanks but I will wait until the REAL data one day comes out. Inconclusive evidence means nothing
 
OK...lets say it does cause cancer (with a high risk associated to it such as smoking)....what then? Power down all the Networks globally and kick ourselves back into the stone age of communication?
 
Seems like anything will give you cancer these days.

Next they'll be using 'sex gives you cancer' as an anti-HIV measure.
 
Let me put it like this: a chest x-ray (whuch uses powerful equipment) is only slightly more harmful than the background radiation we suffer daily. Now how can a cell phone beat an x-ray machine?

You do know that when you go for X rays you are supposed to wear a lead shirt thingy right?

Yes... But the part of you that is exposed gets approx 0.06 - 1.2mSv in a short period (depending on what part of your body is x-rayed). Natural background radiation is 0.01mSv daily. Go for a CT scan and you get a whopping 8mSv. Now the level at which cancer risk increases by 0.8% is 100mSv.
So again, a cell phone increases your risk, but by a very tiny amount.

20 years ago? It's been proven unsafe for a lot longer than that, they've just eased off the advertising/marketing, besides which we have a lot more technology now as well as a lot more medical groups who want to try profit off people's fears & stupidity.
