Telkom’s murky 10 Mbps ADSL plans

Is that what we have been waiting for. Total bollocks if you ask me. The only thing we know is that 'sometime in August it will be roll-out. No price, upgrades speeds, venues. Looks like Telscum is like the ANC, making alotta noise, but no action.

Instead of going forward in this country, our goverment is going backwards

Same on you Telscum

In April there were still a few DSLAMs which were 10 Mbps+ enabled due to the trial. The DSLAMs forming part of the higher speed ADSL trial are based in the following areas: Alberton, Bryanston, Constantia Park, Seapoint, Soutrivier and Waterkloof.

I hope that means ALL of Alberton... and not just one of the central exchanges!

Does anybody know what they mean by "competitor sensitive information"? Do they mean that they are competing with other fixed-line operators?
I suspect it is used by Telkom’s communications department for various reasons and is basically a substitute for anything from ‘I have no clue’ to ‘I am too lazy to get the information for you’.

In the instance of larger data bundles they say they can not comment because it is ‘competitor sensitive information’, but their new pricing has already been filed and must only be approved so how on earth is it competitor sensitive? Last week they told me they could not comment on the same issue because ICASA has not approved the pricing. Different day – different excuse I guess.

The longer they wait, the slower they'll grow and the more customers will move to other ISPs/wireless offerings.

Either way, I win :D I love watching them crumble.

They actually have no idea. They are in such cr*p due to their african adventures and sale (big mistake) of vodacom. They need to push the price up but at the same time have the problem that the public knows it is being scre#ed. Therefore the headless chicken continues to run around and around. Their product is designed for the old people who paid (over and over) for the original infrastructure. The clock is ticking

:wtf:  :erm: :(

I think that is the color order that my face will go while waiting in anticipation.

BTW, i will be driving a Bentley in October.

Give them hell tomorrow!!!

Another hazy area is whether current 4 Mbps ADSL subscribers will be upgraded to 10 Mbps free of charge as initially envisaged. Telkom would not commit on free speed upgrades, and would also not comment on whether 384 Kbps and 512 Kbps ADSL subscribers are in line for speed upgrades in future.

Read as... 4 Mbps will be upgrade too 10 Mbps FREE OF CHARGE, after that you will be charge a 1 x kidney per month!!!

if we all discontinue using telscum we might get somewhere guys. lets see who can hold out the longest. you will see prices tumbling left right and centre
thats the only way to bring them to their knees.

lets do a vote on it.

bloody agents
bastards
