Hi

I have a "factory" unlocked 3GS i.e never been locked which I purchased from Saudi Arabia.
I use it on MTN here.

I want to upgrade to the OFFICIAL iOS 4.0.

The question is: Will I need to reactivate the phone AFTER the upgrade with the SIM from Saudi Arabia that was originally used or will the process not require that?

Thanks.....I was worried my phone will become networked locked after the upgrade and require the original sim then i'm in sh*t street!

You won't need to activate, you can just update.

Are you sure about this? When I ran the upgrade, my phone went through an activation portion. In fact, I had a message on my phone saying something to the order of "iPhone is activated" during the initial setup period.

In any case, if it's a factory unlocked phone like the Vodacom and Saudi ones, you should be able to activate it with any operator's SIM card.

You will always need to "activate" the phone when restoring to a new OS. Fortunately all factory unlocked iPhones will activate with any network's SIM :)
