Just got a call from a Neotel rep offering an upgrade of my CDMA Prime to WiMAX. According to her I'll be upgraded from 10G Prime to unlimited 2mbs WiMAX at no extra cost, subject to a site visit & feasibility study. She'll be sending me the docs shortly.

Update

Docs received.

Also got a call from a Neotel rep yesterday and received the docs this morning and I signed it and sent it through

Hi All.

There is no priority or heirachy list, or area heirachy, and the initial contact only began bout a week ago.
The planned roll out period is over 3 months, but it has started.

When someone gets one, please do a speed test and ping test and post here. I want to know if I must hold off canceling my Prime device, as it has not worked in 3 months. At all.

Not much into planning, hey?

Hmmm... I'm on a 10GB NeoFlex - wonder if I'll get upgraded to an unlimited 2MB WiMax for no extra cost?

I also want to know if it's possible. I would gladly pay the price for the 10GB Prime for an uncapped 2MB WiMax. I always thought that the Flex devices where suppose to be the faster and higher priority, getting the benefits. Guess not then. :wtf:

Also why should we pay Neoflex prices when we can have it at Prime prices like SJM!? :wtf:

Waiting to see what happens. A lot of contracts will be expiring soon... :D

I thinks its a joke that 10 gig prime gets the upgrades sooner than the long suffering Prime Unlimited users! I have 3 or 4 months left on my Prime Unlimited contract, but if I dont get the call for them to sort me out in the next month....Im GONE! Waited for 1.5 years for a decent service and have given up complaining because its so pathetic that maybe this is a sign....maybe I should cancel and go with Screamer or some other Wimax service. All I ever wanted was a stable 1mb with decent upload to make my digital life easier...now after 2 years its almost here but will it be as disappointing as the Prime Unlimited? FOr how long will it be "reliable"?? Im about ready to give up for real. :(

Mr. Neotel.

Wouldn't you be able to post some more details around this Wimax offering ?
E.g. local and international latency
Actual throughputs for a given Mbps speed etc.
It will be quite helpful I think and might even spur some sales ?

Also got a call yesterday to move to 2Mbps unlimited WiMax. Signed forms and sent them through. Will wait and see. Hopefully it's a giant step up. On 10Gb Prime now and its very temperamental.

I am in the exact same situation.

@Hugo,
This thing is still completely useless. The techie that came to the house was polite, but he basically said "point the antenna to different towers and hope it works."

WHAT KIND OF TECH SUPPORT IS THAT?

And no, this thing has not worked for the entirety of last month, and I am yet to browse google using it this month... thats how bad it is.

Can you please explain to us how all the 10G Prime users are getting this offer, and us with Unlimited are not?
Am I even in this list of upgradees? If I am not, then I would like to know NOW so I can cancel. The only reason I am keeping this piece of junk in the house is the "potential" to be upgraded to a *working* connection.

Aah!! So jealous!! Hope they call me soon :)

I got the call, and I'm on Prime Unlimited. The technician is coming to assess whether or not I will have Wimax reception on Monday. So I guess they're working their way to the Unlimited users?

Does anyone know what criteria they're using to select people? I'm on NeoFlex Data 10G, and I consistently go over the 10GB and have to pay in :(. I tried phoning their Sales consultants today, and she said, "they're phoning people, and only those people are going to have access".

I also have a NeoFlex 10G. Hope we get upgraded. Surely NeoFlex 10G is higher on the hierarchy than NeoConnect Prime 10G?

Maybe they arent calling those on the Uncapped Prime because the network might get raped with heavy downloads on the faster speeds :D

I know I would :P

SO that would just mean that the disgruntled Prime Unlimited would be able to get some of their monies worth after paying R1000 a month and getting less than 10 gigs most months. grrrr.

I think they are calling everyone - just a random process that will take place over the next 3 months or so?
