In true form the first 10 will go to sales people who reserve on behalf of buddies. Had experience years ago with CW store. Night before they had stock. get there at 8.50am ten minutes before store opens. I am only one in store and they were sold out.

Hi there Mr Manager... Please define this "first come, first served" condition mentioned here please...

Oh FFS IC doing this on a THURSDAY when people are at WORK!

FFS!

They probably did it this way so that their staff can buy all the stuff.

*Goes off stomping I wanted that hard-drive*

Me also wanted the drives :( , that and the picture frames! Just been down to the mall. Everywhere is dead, except there's a HUGE queue right outside IC, extending down to Exclusive Books. Took some piccies on my cell-phone:

Given the queue outside, I'm pretty sure that Mario and Luigi will have no shortage of people to entertain today :o .

Wow! thats a lot of cheapskates in one place.

And 99.9% of them will be pissed of with I Corruption.

Great marketing.

ROFLOL - I'm 100% that not even (all) the staff knew about the specials. Maybe a branch manager or some top staff. They were shocked to see some of the prices of the stuff people carried out of the shop. "R100 for this, what?!". I'm 100% certain that 100% of these stuff went to legit looking non employee customers.

Kudos to IC with the way they designed the 'system'. The whole process was clean and orderly. Arrived at 7am sharp to find I'm number ~70 in the queue. They allowed people to go in one by one slowly but surely. To avoid the whole run-like-a-mad-cow-to-grab-the-first-20-specials they printed eg. 10/20/50 or whatever tickets/stickers with the unit name, price etc and kept it at the entrance to the shop. As you entered you got told the nice dudes there what you wanted. They then handed you the ticket that allows you to get the special price at the till. Had some strict security at the shop too, checking everything that is coming in/out. There is no way that the employees could have nomnomed any of the specials, no way.

I walked out at 9am with some awesome deals. The 1.5Tb drives were already gone by the time I got to the front. But maaaaan, that Nokia N95 for ... ,,, ... R800 looked so inviting. Saw it a bit too late though.

Did you get one? [a 1.5HDD]

Yip, but only just...I eventually got the 10th (last) 499 1.5tb ticket but had to fight tooth an nail for it though! Most the 1.5tb were all purchased by the lady right at the front the queue. Since each person was only allowed 1 of each special (and many people werent interested in the 1.5-crazy hey), she convinced basically everybody else in front of me to buy one anyway and she'd pay them back. That really got me annoyed, but since I was in pos 9 I figured I'd just shutup as I'd be getting mine anyway. Well just then hordes of family members started pushing into the queue. What most of them had done is sent their kid to wait from early hrs and then at around 07:00 just rocked up with like a million siblings and mom and dad etc etc and thought they could just push in...and they did! Fluckin buggas. Upon confronting the fam in front of me about this clearly unfair action, I was basically immediately slapped with the race card. Stupid bi*ch went around telling everyone she could see that "The whites are ganging up against us...etc" Typical fashion in this supposed "New" South Africa. Yeah right, only thing thats changed is now its acceptable for africans to be prejudice towards us whities.
Anyway, after a lot of back and forth they eventually "gave in" and promised to only take two 1.5 between the lot of them.
Even though I was now like 20th in the q, somehow when I got to the ticket guys, there was still one 1.5 left.
I would have been soooooo p'd if I had walked away empty handed...after all, I had missioned all the way from the city to get this drive.
In the end it turned out ok, just really glad I woke up before my alarm and decided to go so early.
/rant over

WTH. That is NOT fair! I also had my 'family' with me, but all of us stood in the queue like everyone else and each of us went for something we wanted and no "extra" things. My mom/brother wanted a 1.5, I wanted a 1.5 for my boss that informed me about the special etc etc. No I'll go at 3am to keep a place for you in the queue kinda thing. Who the heck is that lady, I wanna do something to her. Grrrr. I should have asked the dude at the till in front of me if he was buying that 1.5tb for himself or for the lady - unless it was you standing there... I was actually about to comment on the 1.5tb when the dude behind the first cashonly counter gave me grief about not having a ticket for the R99 desktop stand thingy I was buying - while I in fact did not need a ticket at all. Long story.

They should have some security making sure that no one 'pushes' into the queue imo - family members or the not.

Hehe, specials make people go crazy :p . Props to IC for making it orderly, people were standing neatly in the queues, and there were security guards watching as well. As I walked by and saw the masses of peeps outside, I knew it was too late. Gonna have to go before 9:00AM next time ;) .

It sounds awfully organised if people were pushing in queues and one person got to buy more that one hard drive.

To this day I am still confused as to how Incredible Corruption makes money, they are by far the most expensive place to buy anything related to technology. It saddens me that yet another one has opened to rake in more unsuspecting sheep into it's inner circles of corruption.. :(

Every time I see someone walk into an Incredible Corruption a little kid in my head cries his heart out to the poor soul that has fallen into the trap.

I wish that they would all burn to the ground, it should be a crime to mark-up to the extent that they do.

That's human-nature. I'm talking about how IC dealt with and organised the special. People will push, people will try exploit the specials to get their extra pron storage. Come on, credit where credit is due, IC handled the event well, that's all I'm saying.

I'm actually impressed with the Incredible Corruption store in Canal Walk, Century City.

They have a HUGE amount of notebooks on display + a whole Mac section with a big-ass 27'' iMac that's haunting Pooky. :)

That is the thing, this store has been here for ages. It was more like a re-opening (they moved to a "bigger" shop blah blah).
