PS3 downloads - Updates slow vs new downloads.

Why does it take my ps3 300+ minuets to download an update of 300 mg, but downloads a new purchase of more than a gig in little more than 70 minutes? :mad:
 
Don't know dude,last night i had to patch RDR and it took 25min to download the 16MB patch. And later i downloaded the new MW2 maps 364MB and it took 20min. I think it might have something to do with the server where the patch is hosted.
 
Some of the stuff is cached locally if i;m not mistaken

I have chatted to some people and it seems that there are two servers, One for updates and patches and one for the store. It seems that the Store is cached locally but anything that you cannot download in the background such as patches, cannot be cached so you have to download that stuff directly from the uk server.
It makes sense to me, because my 400 mg update for Shift took about 4 hours to update on my 4mg line a couple of weekends ago.
