The day when the majority of residentials can afford it. Fibre is not expenive, it is the end user and transmission equipment that is costly. The ROI is not feasible atm for residentials.

What is that 16mb connection from Mweb? R 9k a month or something?

Imagine what this would cost you per month. Im not worried about having a 100Mbps line to my house, Im happy with a 4 - 10 meg line with uncapped/unshaped. I have the uncapped 4mbps but not the unshaped :(

Wrong time to reveal this bit of information. Where is the Seacom services today?
 
They will probably fall short. Cheap uncapped, reliable, and fast internet is a dream that will never occur in South Africa. At least not in our lifetime.
 
i predict a slump... when all the gadget junkies get old and the new generation of nature freaks neglect the internet.
