Ok.. so have my Ipad 3g, but have only been using the wireless (no 3g) since I have not had the need... as everywhere I go i have wi-fi access.

So now the need has come up for me to get a sim card for this device ....

now who had the best data coverage and speeds.... I find that on my phone Vodacom suck in the Cresta and some Sandton and north riding areas....

Will mtn be any better?

What is your experience ? I don't care about support as I will be using a pre-paid data sim... and well neither of those companies have any good support anyways .... so .. what shall it be ? or should I just get both and swap as I need?

Mate the Ipad uses mini-sim cards so first you have to wait till they get brought out here and the only company planning that at the moment is Vodacom unless you want to try and cut you're current sim card down to size but it doesn't always work.

I am using an MTN SIM, and I get good speed and coverage. Better than I get on my iPhone, which is also on MTN. I think this is because the iPad has a better antenna.

And don't let the SIM size stand in your way. 10 minutes with a Stanley knife and you are sorted. If you use the card that comes with the iPad as a template, it should be fairly obvious to you what you need to cut away.

I have a sim from vodaphone that I can use as a template ... so cutting I don't have a problem with... and at R3 a sim ... i can have alot of practice ....

Go MTN dude. I have tried Voda and MTN on the iPad, and MTN for some reason is much better on the iPad. Dunno why, just is. Voda is pretty inconsistent. And dont even start me on trying to get a working MicroSim from Vodacom... Its easier just to cut it yourself!
