Rant: Grand Parade Fan Fest

A big THANK YOU to the organisers of this fan fest:mad: , especially for today.

During the group matches, they arranged Adderly and Wale streets as spillover areas and erected big screens. What do they do on the day of the semi-final, which happens to be the last match to be held in Cape Town?

"Sorry, we're full but you're welcome to come watch the recorded match tomorrow at 11h00". :wtf:

No spillover areas, no extra big screens. Some people travelled as far afield as Wellington and Paarl, not only to be at the fanfest, but to at least do the fan walk since it was their last opportunity to do so. We had to turn around and go home, missing the game in the process. Needless to say, the trains were full of disappointed fans - that "gees" of Saturday wasn't even there; then again, what could one expect.

At least Netherlands' win made up for the crappy organisation :)
 
That sucks dude... I haven't been to the fan park yet and work just a few blocks away! Does anyone know what happens on non-Match days? Do they also play replays? i.e. Thursday, Friday, Saturday this week before the Final.
 
And make sure you draw cash before you go to the Fanfest. There is only one friggin FNB ATM at the parade & most people don't know how to use it. Stood in that damn queue for ever yesterday.
 
I'm confused, you talking about last night/

It was exceptionally busy everywhere - but we were in and out all over the place? No major problems getting into the fan park though... except the queue.
 
The ATM queue was exceptionally bad. They could have had more ATM's. Drinks, food & getting in was OK.
 
Yeh - borrowed money from friends :)

We tried to get into Mexican Shabeen - and gave up - went to Cape Quarters, watched the 2nd half, back to Mexican Shabeen - then home.

Wish they'd have the train service safe and running properly after the world cup - would be great to be able to hop on the train, stop in Century City, drive home.
 
There were two giant halls for indoor viewing for FREE at the CTICC. With free parking nearby.

Too bad that that Michael Jackson-wannabe lookalike security guard at he gate didn't know this. And addressing thousands of people with a megaphone while they have a state-of-the-art public address system running inside of the fest? Fail
