They must be comparing it to their BMW's at 256 kmph and think, "demmit thats fast, eish"
 
Useless useless useless. This is just an excuse to go to more 'business lunches' on the taxpayers dime.
 
They'll just fail again with this. Then, when people tell them about what they said back in 2010 they'll just shrug and retort with: "But what's your problem? Just buy a phone or USB modem with 4G support and you have broadband!!"
(of course this "success" always goes hand in hand with a FAT bonus)

And who is going to drive this to ensure the lines a) get installed and b) gets rolled out and c) is actually affordable? ICASA I guess. Or the DoC. Neither of which have the best track record in this regard.

Reading the doc, it does not appear that lines have to be rolled out as it refers to broadband availabity and not ADSL availability. Hence they can plonk down a 3G mast and claim that the community has access!
 
Don't worry folks - no one will have 256kbps in 2019 - cause they will still not have internet at all.

Ha ha ha. By 2019? By 2019, the rest os the world's ENTRY speed will be 256 Mbps. Laughable government forward thinking again...
 
I am sure they mean a Download speed of 256Kbps and not 256kbps :p 256Kbps = roughly a 2 meg line, where a 256kbps = roughly a 32Kb.

So one is sure, AKA Hoping, that there was a typo. :confused:

256k in the year 2019.... PUH-LEASE! Why don't they also specify that the minumum computer required for this incredible service must have at a minumum CPU speed of 100Mhz and 256 MB RAM.
