hi
do u get a converter to convert a ordinary old analogue telephone to usb so tht it can work with skype?
if yes, where do u get from n how much do they cost? thx!

I have the both the Nanoelf boxen - the Skypebox from the link above as well as the USB handset linked below (discalimer: I'm not affiliated.) It's pretty damn cool. Lifting the receiver causes Skype to pop up. Pressing * turns the phone into skype mode. From there you can dial a speed dial and press #

pros:
- You only need 1 receiver for VOIP and PSTN
- Wireless if you have eg. a DECT phone
- You can call SkypeOut numbers as well
- Excellent Voice Quality

cons:
- I've never received a POTS and VOIP call simultaneously but I'm sure it'll be an issue
- Not quite as portable as other solutions
- Can't "remote control" Skype with it
- Might clash with PABX eg. at my office I press *2 to pick up somebody else's call which I can't do any longer.

I actually prefer this model (also from Nanoelf. It's a USB handset that's R20 less than the skype box.

pros:
- you can remote contal Skype from it eg. pressing arrows move the cursor
- it has a screen so you can see who's calling you
- very portable: unplug and pack
- You can call SkypeOut numbers as well
- Excellent Voice Quality

cons:
- extra handset
- not wireless (my biggest gripe. I know there are some wireless solutions available but not at this price)

whats the diff between a dect phone and a normal cordless fne?
like if i get the SkypeBox form NanoElf, will i be able to plug my ordinary cordless fone in it and use it with skype?
BlaZor, i do have a microfone but i wna upgrade and go cordless! :)

Thanx for the help people!

Dect phone= you can add more handsets to share the base unit.
normal cordless = cannot add more handsets.

Skype box can handle Dect phones , normal cordless and normal phones.

The skype box works great for home.

Dualphone is well worth price

I've tried an adapter with a normal cordless phone and it works but not with very good Skype functionality - also sound quality seems to deteriorate

I then bought the Dualphone www.dualphone.co.za - fantastic Skype phone! You can see contacts who are online and call them from handset. Well worth the price.

Which cordless phone did you use it with ?

Money aside which is the best.... USB Desk Nanofone or Dualphone.. anyone done a comparison?

Dualphone

1) I bought a Skype Dualphone cordless 2-in-1 a while back. it works fine for skype2skype calls. but the moment i call from skype to a ordinary line, (skypeOut) the person on the other side can hardly hear me yet i can hear them fine. when using a normal mic/earphone headset it works fine though. anybody have any idea what it can be?

2) i can not seem to get the dualphone to work with any version of skype other than the one on the installation cd, any way of fixing this? as that version is by now very old and out dated?
