Vista Laptop wont connect in cape town

Vista Laptop wont connect in cape town - SOLVED

I'm down in Cape Town for a few days, brought my iburst desktop modem and my ethernet cable with me and my vista based laptop.

It will connect to iburst when in Joburg but here it connects but there is no internet eg. page not found and nothing will ping

Tried making new connection but that didnt work

SOLUTION:
I have a fixed static IP assigned when in Joburg, down in Cape Town that was causing the conflict of no connection.....duh:erm:

Check that you are getting the automatically assigned DNS servers.
 
Help desk have escalated ticket, have tried my friends xp laptop as well and can get either to work, both will start the connection with the modem but no data transmits.. i can leave option so ibursts dns get assigned or use opendns but only the assigned ip is pingable

Who else is in seapoint area.. do you struggle to get it to work?

I see that it's solved, but I would've suggested it's the fact that it's Slaapstad, same effect on people too here :D
