Telkom and cancelations of adsl roll outs

Well it seems telkom is making good on their promise of withdrawing their service, well at least partially.

I am moving in a couple months time from my plot in Willow Glen to a plot in the Bashewa region (Eastern side of pretoria). I have been monitoring the adsl roll out for that region over the past 6 months now, because it is a crucial part of my business. Their original roll out was planed for march next year. Well went on this weekend to check up on the eta for the roll out ,and YIP you guessed all of a sudden no roll out for this region has been planed at all. Hmmmm.....Coincidents....... makes you wonder.

After seeing this I went to the trouble (knowing it was a waste of time) of writing them an e mail. this was my original e-mail and what follows are the three automated responses I recieved.

I am moving to the Bashewa/Tiegerpoort - Pretoria area at the end of this year, last month when I checked the ADSL availability for that area Tel no 012-811....... it stated that the roll out for that area has been planned for March 2006, it was planned for Mar 06 for the past 4 years. Now I see that no roll out is taking place to that area, could you please let me know as to why this changed.

I am currently using ADSL in Willow Glen and need the connection for my business and do not wish to downgrade to 56k again. Any suggestions as to how I would be able to get broadband in the 012 811..... area, seeing that you have withdrawn the ADSL roll out.

I have been a loyal ADSL subscriber for almost 4 years and did not mind the fact that I would have had to wait 3 months for a new ADSL connection, but now there will be no ADSL connection. Broadband is a necessity for me and I cannot let Telkom dictate to me as to which area I should move to, to have continued broadband access.

Please send me your suggestions as soon as possible and let me know whether ADSL is at all still in the planning phases for the 012 811...... telephone numbers.

Seems we as paying customers just do not matter. Maybe my adsl could follow up on the cancellation of previously planned roll outs.

Is Telkom really so arrogant that they are actually making good on their threats!!!! :mad:
 
I have also been monitoring the roll-out for my area (014-743). At first the date was 31 March 2006, then 30 November 2005 and then 31 August 2005. Since Friday last week the date has changed back to 30 November 2005. :mad: What gives?
 
Yet they seem to have started a strong advertising campaign for ADSL, both print and Television
 
yup telkom are like this

lets shove adsl advertising down ppl's throat and when they phone tell them they cant have it no ports hahahaha what a good joke that will be

who cares it costs millions we will just chagre more to make up for it
 
good point killa - them fruckers (teklom) are throwing money to all their "supporters" in a preparative stance for the ICASA rulings fight. Also, all this advertising will cost teklom millions and millions and lower their profit margin, thereby making the ICASA rulings look like they are going to really hurt teklom, where the reality is that teklom is simply squandering money into the right pockets. Fruckers Fruckers Fruckers.
