i searched everywhere on the net and it seems that it is impossible to enter a proxy? the reason i want this is take take advantage of the free wifi at campus. will this be sorted with froyo??

lol, because they obviously have a proxy there :rolleyes:
I have seen a few apps for setting up a proxy on the market, but most need root access.

i can connect but only able to check emails, with the proxy i can download anything (well almost)

Oh right. No, 2.2 isn't officially released for Galaxy S, flashed pre release build with Odin.
