Why dont they have these LCD screens locally ...?

Really? On a mantlepiece? I'd much rather have a framed fine art or blocked canvas print hanging over my fireplace and leave the monitor in my studio. I've already got a plasma in the den that does a great job when it comes to family slide shows.
 
You can buy 50 inch displays from NEC, Illyama and Mitsubishi if ya want.
 
Agree ... mantelpiece was not the word I was looking for ... what I meant was it would look cool in places where you would usually place a photo frame ... corner table to liven up a dead area, etc ...

50" is a rather to big for what I had in mind ....

Sometimes if the room is too large these 7" and 10" photo frames tend to get drowned ....
