IP bandwidth monitor?

Hi all,

The idiots at this company who do not understand the conept of limited bandwidth used over a gig yesterday on **** knows what.

I am tired of getting capped, and i want some advice on how i can monitor the bandwidth usage for each individual ip address on the network. I googled it, and found a couple of pieces of software that do this, but i would like some advice from people who know more than me?

The easiest way I reckon is to install the SNMP service on all boxes, then run

on a "server"

Will show how much bandwidth each machine uses, in nice pretty graphs.

I have never done this, so all this is purely theoretical

oh god, is there not a way to do this without installing stuff on peoples machines?

IPCOP does it per machine, you need to be using it though...

Otherwise, dont think there is a way without installing things on peoples machines...

Any other forumites got any suggestions?

well -there is the K4K expensive ms ISA server route, but - no - you have to install firewall client on each machine - forgetit.
