PlayStation Move: South African Pricing

A lot of money for a stick with a ball on the end and a camera :(.
Hopefully some decent games will make use of it (RE5 looks cool with it :p)

The US Starter Bundle is different to the local bundle. The US has Sports Champions and the South African bundle has a demo disk.

There is no way $99 : $149 scales to R699 : R1999.
The R1999 can NOT be the correct price. Sounds like sales talk to me. Sorry.

Either way, unless my kids REALLY wants this, there is no way I will buy this for myself.
The Wii sucks, so will both of these for most PS3 and XBOX gamers, but kids dig it.
I compare the PS Move, Kinect and the Wii to movie games. They are horrible for most people, but kids somehow enjoy them tremendously.

The US bundle is no different. The US bundle doesn't come with a full game instead it also comes with a demo disk that contains a number of different games.

The pricing is way cool considering that the $99 in the states probably doesn't include tax.

Now Playstation Move would probably go extremely well with Metal Gear Solid: Rising :D

I hope they decide to add support for it. It'd be worth the money if they came out like this for Playstation Move and not those crappy medieval games Sony has been showing

Nice price, looking forward to seeing new titles make use of the technology.

Like I already said the US bundle comes with a full game called Sports Champion. Europe (and SA) have a demo disc instead. Rather research before you correct someone incorrectly :)

Hehe. That made my chuckle :)

Anyway, I have spent a few tens of thousands of rands on games for my XBOX 360 and PS3. So I don't mind buying what I like. But my point is, I am tired of being shafted for living in South Africa.

We have been promised XBOX live since the console was launched, still, no XBOX Live. We have to jump through hoops to get it to work in SA. The PS3 has local support, which makes me spend more money there, simply because it's easier.

With regards my problem with this article stating that Kinect will be R1999. I remember when I bought first few XBOX 360 controllers, they were R350-R399. Now they are selling for around R500 - 600 each. While the dollar price is the same and the exchange rate has actually dropped since then. Same goes for the actual console. It seems that the MS agents (If MS doesn't sell it themselves in SA) noticed that the South African public are willing to fork out WAY above the standard exchange rate for the Wii and PS3, so upped the price to "be competitive" (Read greedy). If the Kinect is R1999 in SA and $149 in the US, then we are being taken advantage of again. I will then simply not support the product.

But that is just me. Will probably give in to my kids begging at some point, but will go for PS Move because it is cheaper and I think will probably be better since you actually have buttons... I am one of those that believe they are kind of required for gaming.

I had my brother bring me a PS3 controller from the UK since they are 40 pounds there, much cheaper than here.

Enough ranting for now. Peace out!! ;)

If the bundle is that cheap I might get one. The price for kinect is just ridiculous. I would still rather pay a bit more and get a Wii, which at least has the advantage of many games being available. Microsoft need to do something about their pricing in this country.

Count me in, "move" is going to be great.

Yep, it will bring out a new dimension in gaming, No Hype (read M$) just pure enhanced gaming functionality

AND they can update existing games to use it. From reading the reviews on using the Move with Resident Evil I must say my interest is peaked... If this thing is really that good I guess my Xbox will start gathering dust from now on.
