Telkom’s 21 Mbps HSPA+ mobile broadband plans

Only reason Telkom are trying to compete in this market is so that they can claim they are active in promoting the internet. Then they will not bother to maintain their fixed line ADSL service. So consumers who use uncapped from other ISP's will get pissed off because of poor line speed.

Telkom will reply and say that if the consumer wants high speed internet they should go over to HSPA+ and the end result is Telkom will continue to rip the consumer off.

Telkom added that Telkom Mobile is planning to enable 21Mbps on sites in areas where there is a demand for the service and where there is sufficient backhaul to support the service.

Seriously Telkom? Even you have problems getting backhaul out of Telkom? Maybe you should invest in being able to deliver fixed line point-to-point connections and then play in the mobile space.
 
I don't care how good this service or any other new service may end up being, I refuse to support Telkom any longer. Given their terrible terrible history of exploiting myself and the rest of the South African populance, they do not deserve a single dime more. May they die in hell.
 
See what happens when Telkom has proper competition. VC and MTN are giants in the mobile industry, and Telkom has to do a lot just to be on par. Now if Neotel wasn't the fail that it is....
 
What about high-speed ADSL and FTTC? Come on Telkom....Wake up!!!

I have had a preview of this wireless service (7.2M W-CDMA)- from a Telkom techie--he said the same thing; Telkom copper lines are a huge liability and in the short term will be promoting wireless service to all new ADSL subscribers at the same cost of ADSl line--voice included as well--no analogue line rental charged. So I agree with you, in the long term the copper lines will be history, and LLU a moot point; they will not relinquish copper, but create a sub-company to maintain it. Other ISP will buy from this sub-company and service their customers.

Either way, if consumers benfit from this, I am in--if we are on another screwing spree, this is very hurtful!
 
Really wish they would focus their energies on improving ADSL and telephony in general and leave mobile to the established players.
 
competitive pricing

How can Telkom have competitive pricing when they will be roaming in some areas on mtn.


I'm asuming that mtn will drop their prices once cell c launches to what R100.

I would love to know what the average cost in the whole country is for 1MB in mtn, vodacom and telkom

Telkom Marketing there wireless at the same rate as a ADSL but the data is 30 cents a meg thats R307.20 a GIG were is there same rate
 
Bluddy scum of the Earth. TO HELL HELL HELL WITH THEM and their wireless plans. They must sort out their core business first the stupid pricks.
