yo.
I recently starting using my 6630 for going online. but the signal where i stay is dreadful.(by this i mean the 3G signal.) sadly enough I dont really need 3G anyways. all i want is a phone that can browse without disconnecting. cause what happens is that when there is a 3G signal, it uses that signal to go online. but as soon as that signal gets lost(which normally takes about 5 minutes) then it starts using the GPRS.(ofcourse this causes my internet to disconnect) and then five minutes later it finds the 3G signal and then dials into that which intern disconnects my GPRS. i know you people must be thinking its my phone but sadly you are mistaken. cause in other parts of my neighbourhood it works perfectly.

this gets quite irritating when you are using a program like MXit.

so... does anyone have a solution to deactivating 3G on a Nokia 6630???

Peace Out

On the 6680 you can go to settings->Network settings->Network mode and change from dual mode to GSM.

The 6630 I presume has the same setting.

Only from firmware 3.45.xxx and onwards.

Please can you private mail me your phone number and location where you surf from so I can determine why the connection is dropping as you should be able to change between bearers and stay online. If you have a 3G signal you should also be getting EDGE so should be able to maintain a healthy downlink speed as well.
