I realised I was dead in March or April. My sister was trying to have the licence of one of my cars renewed when she was told that I’m dead.

“Then I went there myself, but I was told that made no difference since the computer says the owner of that car is dead. They said I have to phone a number in Pretoria and hear what I have to do to become alive again.

“I told them it’s not my fault that I’m ‘dead’ and that they have to fix the mistake. Their answer was simply: ‘It’s not our mistake, it’s the system’s mistake.’

What really grinds me with government is that the onus always falls on you, they just shrug and take a tea break. Now you have to phone, stand in queue, fill in forms and darn near strangle someone before something happens and then they mess that up as well.

If the government wants instant praise, bring back efficiency to departments dealing with the public, that will win them some huge brownie points.
 
Some people just don't fit within a modern westernized society.
 
Wonder what her respond would have been, If she would have told her "since I am dead then that means I can kill you and nobody can do anything since well I am dead"

My mother's Estate has just been fined R750 by Eskom for not informing them 2 weeks prior to her death that her bank account would be frozen after her death...I kid you not....
 
LOL. I've heard of other screw up's like this. A friend of the family was told by SABC that they will be suing her husband for not paying his license even though he had been dead for years, she pays her own license. She told them this and the answer from the idiot was "Yes ma'am, but your husband must pay his license or we will have to sue."

Sometimes I wonder how people get their jobs, surely one of the prerequisites of clerical work is a basic understanding of English, both written and orally, in order to understand a death certificate means the man is dead. And in the case of the guy in the OP, surely common sense is also needed.

Sorry dude, not laughing at such a tragedy on your part, and my sympathies and condolences to you. But what did they expect from you, a tarot reading or something? The BS that these companies come up with just makes my eyes water.

I've had the same for my gran's SABC license.. to which I responded "Please go ahead and waste your money suing a dead person whose estate was wound up years ago"...

Unsurprisingly enough, they did attempt to sue my gran.....

LOL, what chimpanzees are they using for lawyers? I mean surely they did research before petitioning the court, oh no wait we are talking the SABC here. If I was a judge I'd make the SABC pay a huge fine for wasting the courts time.
 
since '94 most of the systems went downhill and failed epically... and then you get people who keeps on thinking that this country is going to flourish in the future...i would like to see how this is going to happen if this government can't even supply it's people with the most basic facilities.... ZA = FAIL

The only reason I know is because the lawyer who was dealing with my grans estate phoned me the one day pissing himself laughing... I don't know the exact details though.

Ah, ok, at least the lawyers know what they are doing. I was thinking that they went all the way to court. Still, these kinds of F up's can be hellish on people. Getting told by some idiot that someone who has died (a loved one) owes them money just like that.

Thanks, actually Eskom is excelling themselves at the moment, as they now find it totally impossible to take the account off my dad's name and he died in 2002. I thought that they had simply carried on addressing it to my dad because my mom had just stayed on in the house. Now the house is in my name, and I have been back with relevant death certificates, I am STILL getting everything addressed to my dad!

Phoning them and trying to explain everything is quite a joke as every single person that I have spoken to cannot comprehend my question, and EVERY one gets stuck on why I didn't take it out of my dad's name in 2002. When I say that I did, they tell me that that is impossible, because there is no record of it, unless I can tell them who I spoke to in 2002!

MyButtBand's Law, every thread, given enough time, will be derailed into a racial argument, even if the levels of instigation are ambiguous and almost non-existant.

Oh please get off your high horse, nowhere in those posts does it say anything about race. In fact most of the dealings I've had with SABC, Telkom, etc that have been poor, the people have been white or coloured, and they are still morons. Seriously, people are so quick to think the worst of everyone on this site. The fact of the matter is that our administration services and many of the parastatals are run very poorly, nothing to do with race, everything to do with idiots not doing their job properly.
