Telkom confirms free 10 Mbps ADSL upgrades

Again, no mention of the 0.375MB and 0.5MB users...

.3 =R152
.5 =R326
10 =R413

WTF?

C'mon!

so those links that are provided just enable me to check if the exchange is ADSL enabled, but not if it is 10MB capable.

???

I still don't for the life of me get it. 4 meg already seems to be straining the network and as far as I know many people can't even connect at that. While people like myself can't even load a ****ing Youtube video at .384. Absurd and pointless, far as I am concerned.

:mad:

I'm glad they are moving forward and don't want to sound negative but all I want to know is if the other packages will be getting any sort of speed upgrades?

Like I've said before, this is like going to a car dealership and the only choices you have is to buy a Hummer ... or an Uno and a Picanto! Nothing in between.

It really makes no sense that they bump up the top package and then do nothing about the rest. It actually makes me wonder what the distribution of users is across the different lines speeds, ie. what % is on 384, 512 and 4mb...?

Ha ha Telkom really know how to make enemies! Something like this only pleases very few while alienating many others!

Interested to see what the ISPs do about charging these users for things like their uncapped accounts. Or will they just be limited to 4Mbps?

I'm sure the lower upgrades are coming. Either that or they will drop the price of 4meg. Something is going to happen.

A 30x speed difference with a product which cost only 3x as much is hilarious. Someone should post this on slashdot or something.

hahaha

Agreed. Some people are very happy- I know I would be.

For the majority (I assume the top end users are in the minority?)- they couldn't care less.

And the 384'ers out there??

My exchange doesn't support 4MB (012 653 xxxx)

Sorry to hijack and pardon my ignorance :o but how do you determine what speeds your exchange supports? Am royally sick of 384k :sick:

The links in the article only tell me that my exchange is ADSL enabled
