Will we EVER see this in SA? I think not... 'sigh'.

Well, we've seen reduced prices, but have we seen a service provider upgrade speeds at no extra cost to customers? Nah, they would just offer the faster speeds at a greatly increased price. That's the SA way of doing business.

This happens all over the '1st' world ... Co-workers of mine in The Netherlands and Sweden had 2Mb installed ... next morning get to their machines with a nice little e-mail ... You have been upgraded to 8Mb/10Mb respectively overnight

The world is moving forward and the only changes Telkom can surprise us with here in SA is "We are pleased to announce our new more expensive pricing! But wait, there is more, if ICASA doesn't haggle us we will be capping local traffic AND, wait for it, charge you per gig till you are blue in the face!!! YEAH!!!!!"

A-holes!

I always knew telkom was expensive, but never really grasped how expensive till I came back from London and tried to get some broadband. Now I hate them more than I have hated any company in my life. I never knew hatred like this towards a company was possible.

The bit that gets me, is that in a day Poison Ivy can tell ICASA that their interpretation was not her intention, and bam no VANS self provisioning. It took just days to screw the consumer again.

Yet everyone knows Telkom is screwing us. Everyone knows how badly Telkom is screwing us. Everyone knows how to rectify the problem, it's not a new one, it's been done the same way in almost ever country that's deregulated/unbundled.

Yet Ivy / whoever won't step up to defend the consumer. I call it corruption. Hell, I'd call it treason . . . :P

* :( BOOHOO!! WHEH!! :( * We are in hell!! may as well get our cans and string out, I bet my bit-rate would beat telkom :o

I wait for the day we have Telkom and some government puppets in a Shabby Sheik type trial...

If there was competition, there would be a very real chance of this happening, but as it currently stands, NO!

Bah all we need is some good old fashion armed resistance...
But then again who am i kidding i mean im actually paying telkom while i write this
Its a vicious cycle i tell ya
viva la resistance

24Mbit free until 10-2005 then £20, no caps, no limits

Boys and Girls,

I've just signed up for a 24Mbit ADSL2 service, installation takes 7-14 days, free wireless modem/router, free installation, and best of all 24MBit uncapped and unlimited connection. Price....... wait for it.........£20 (R240) per month. And even better, the service is free until 1 October 2005.

I read the forum and weep.

Haha Telkom has us all by the balls. What can we do about it? Jack#$%^ except right to a forum and complain about it.
