For those of you who are intested, his interview on CNN will be aired tonight at 10pm local time on a show called ‘Connect the World’.
South Africa’s biggest forum. Discuss, discover, and connect with thousands of members.
Just watched it. They didn't go in-depth enough but I guess it was due to time constraints. Love the way the ANC spokesperson blabbered on about the fact that the reason for doing this would be to protect people without the financial means to take the press to task for defamation etc. What a joke. We're talking about the government (actually the ANC) here, not Joe Soap. I thought it was in the interests of classifying sensitive government information (yeah right) as opposed to exposing Themba's Corner Café for ripping the rear end out of its customers.
Guess there must be some really poor downtrodden members of the ruling party who are being bullied by the media then.![]()
Two separate bills - one is to 'protect' those that are the subject of malicious reporting, the other is to hush up anything that the government does.
Ah, ok I had it wrong. So the one to protect those from malicious reporting; is that then aimed to serve the man on the street ie. Joe Public or high-profile individuals within gvt.?
Did anyone record this interview? I would like to watch it
Can you imagine the irony if this leads to sanctions levelled against South Africa again? I'll point and laugh if it does.
That will not happen. Not over this. It will take more than that.
