WikiLeaks will place new servers with Swedish Pirate Party

Are they called the pirate party due to their desire to allow software pirating over the internet? Or is that some name the world has given to them due to that being one of their goals?

They chose that name for themselves more out of irony. But they stand more for privacy and realistic copyright reform than for simple illicit file-sharing and downloading. Their existence is a reaction to the rise of fairly draconian legislation and moves by the content owners especially in the USA to push for longer copyright terms, restrictions on distribution, digital rights control and pursuit of "infringers" (customers/users).
