Sam Allardyce has claimed neither he nor Mark Hughes were given enough time at bigger clubs - and insisted he would win the title every year if he were manager of Real Madrid or Manchester United.

Allardyce and Hughes cross swords on Saturday as managers of mid-ranking clubs, Blackburn and Fulham respectively, with the Rovers boss denying that both men have found their true level.

Hughes was sacked by Manchester City last season while Allardyce's spell in charge of Newcastle lasted less than half a campaign.

Allardyce insisted however: "I'm not suited to Bolton or Blackburn, I would be more suited to Inter Milan or Real Madrid.

"It wouldn't be a problem to me to go and manage those clubs because I would win the double or the league every time.

"Give me Manchester United or Chelsea and I would do the same, it wouldn't be a problem.

"It's not where I'm suited to, it's just where I've been for most of the time.

"It's not a problem to take me into the higher reaches of the Champions League or Premier League and would make my job a lot easier in winning it."

Hughes has made a good start at Fulham, one of five teams still unbeaten in the top flight, and the trip to Ewood Park will be a return to old stomping grounds where he spent three seasons as a player and four years as manager.

Allardyce believes the Welshman was hard done-by at City, saying: "His Manchester City reign obviously was not long enough. A little bit like me at Newcastle, but I didn't last quite as long as Sparky though.

"He was given the chance and unfortunately at that stage of his career they decided to have a change.

"You look back on it and he'll be very disappointed because they only lost two games I think. But that is the way it is sometimes, there's a perception that other people can do better than you, but often the reality is not the case.

"He decided that Fulham was the place for him, he's taken over what he's described in his own words as a very good team and he's started where they left off last season."

Allardyce does believe Fulham will feel the loss of striker Bobby Zamora, who suffered a broken leg last week.

He added: "Bobby Zamora was the most improved player last year without a shadow of a doubt.

"He gets them into a European final, he gets himself in the England squad and all of a sudden he becomes an outstanding centre forward."

Ryan Nelsen and Michel Salgado are doubts for Blackburn after both limped off against Manchester City last weekend.

Nelsen had a kick to the instep and Salgado a thigh injury and both will have fitness tests just before the match. Keith Andrews (groin) remains sidelined.
What a **** and clearly very humble

What a deluded twit. Never had much time for Hughes either.

Does not lack any confidence, does he. Shame, he is a victim because nobody can recognise his genius. So he is stuck with blackburn or bolton, instructing them to play rugby. Poor man. No wonder he is bitter.

Agree with you on Moyes. Would like to see him manage one of the bigger clubs with more resources.

Is there any verification that those are his exact words?

Beh... you lot are just jealous. Here's some more of Big Sam it's obviously not the real Fat Sam... duh!

Big Sam sucks on the titties of application, tweaks the nipples of tactical knowhow and runs his tongue along the areola of opportunity.
Watching my valiant boys on 'Match of the Day'. Is it wrong to go erect while watching my team? If it's wrong then I don't want to be right.
The way the cop gets into the mind of that mentalist is very similar to how Big Sam inflicts psychological blows upon my soccer rivals.

Then this gem... Big Sam enters the penis of equality into the vagina of prejudice, and produces the semen of harmony (right before Can't believe Wazza Rooney paid ÂŁ1,000 for that whore. I could have got him three pokes at Crunchy Clit Annie for 20 notes. She's awesome.)

ROFL

One poster on BBC606 believes Fat Sam's words were twisted. Here is what he really said:

(In all probability) if I was (somehow ever) given the chance to manage a top club like Real Madrid (by a mentally challenged director) in the future (there is no chance) I would be a success (and the idea that) I would win the double every year (is so ridiculous that I am dying of laughter)

.... I reckon that is the un-edited version of what was really said...

Here's another funny post on BBC

The thing is that I can actually picture all these Real Madrid fans running onto the pitch and attacking him with torches and pitch forks. I don't think there would be a more beautiful sight in football.

Just imagine it. Casillas punting the ball 90 years for Ronaldo to knock down. Sergio Ramos drying a football with a towel for 60 seconds.

It would bring fans of Madrid and Barca together in an attempt to murder him. Now THAT's football laugh

Why is everyone getting so worked up about him saying that? It sounds like a joke to me. Can a man not have a laugh these days?

Saying "I'm suited to Real Madrid or Inter Milan" and then laughing isn't any disrespect to our club at all, as he was having a laugh.

The media always make things worse too as they print quotes and it's not always easy to take it in the way it's said and can easily be blown out of proportion.

It's not a biggie.

Rovers till I die!
