SABC should only play African music, says CWUSA

Invest in an African-only radio station and you can have your wish, if there's demand for it. Stop demanding schit - make it happen for yourself...
 
I think SABC should play quality music. Just that, don't care if it's local or not

Should bang out some old school westside connection to really get me interested in a black only radio station.

I have no problem with that. I haven't watched or listened to the SABC in years.
 
They ' must ', we 'demand' - where does this sense of entitlement come from ?

They can bugger off, not that there is anything wrong with a lot of South African music, but music is universal and should never have any borders.

Guess it depends what South African music they play. Don't care don't watch or listen to them .
 
I also barely ever watch SABC because nothing on those stations is interesting...BUT I agree 101% with what they are saying. They NEED to play just African music. Why? Because they need to push African local artist out there. The local artists here need all the support so that they can improve their music, make money and then spread it over-seas. In USA, NOBODY plays African music unless it's a special once in awhile SEGMENT and I mean ONCE IN AWHILE. BET(black.entertainment.channel) is trying it's best to promote some African music here and there but still ONCE IN A LIFE-TIME!

So if "WE" don't play African music who else will? Damn well not the Europeans up there. In the long run this would be a great business and motivational move for the people of Africa in general.

Why not take all overseas sport off the tv and radio as well so we are forced to support our local teams.

We should also not import foreign goods, clothing, appliances, cars so that we can support our local labour and manufacturers.

Ban all overseas tourism so we are forced to tour and spend money in our own tourist resorts.

Yeesh, what a short-sighted idea.

Cwusa demanded that the broadcaster re-thinks its decision to stop playing only African music because "it is quite clear that there are more benefits for artists as long as our music is played on our radios".
