Ok, here's my setup:

Single view 1110 Decoder
--RCA to Splitter
--Split to Ellies booster
--Split to main telly
--RF to another room

Other room TV:
--RF from DSTV
--RCA from DVD

So, that other room is my step-son's and the other day he plugs his Nintendo DS (aftermarket) charger into the multi-plug that also powers his TV and begins charging his DS. Major interference in the main TV room. Like the signal has been interrupted. Channel sticks on 110 (110 flashes a few times on the decoder) and picture freezes. Sound continues.

We reset everything wondering what happened. Then, he has this idea it might be his DS charging and I kid you not - it is. Reproducible every time but ONLY if the charger goes into the same multi-plug.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Strange where does the RF cable run past, perhaps it is running past the same electrical cables that feed that plug he is using to charge his DS, causing the electrical interference.

Test what happens when you plug in something with a resistive load like a kettle into that plug

The DS charger is a switchmode supply that can generate noise. To prevent it from interfering, check:

1. Is it an approved charger (I mean FC and CE approved, not nintendo)
2. Is the multiplug's earth wire correctly connected?
3. Is the TV properly earthed (including antenna cable's shield)?

You'll prolly find a missing earth somewhere, which allows the electrical noise radiated by the charger to get into the RF cable.

Thanks for the feedback. I have two kids, each with a DS and several chargers. After the above hints and clues, I tried using the other DS charger and guess what - no interference. So, I take the dodgy one and plug it in elsewhere and hear this faint buzzing sound coming from it. Obviously the charger has seen better days but I find it interesting that it causes this interference. OomD - I will check each of those things too - thanks.

TV make, btw, is SONY and it is a CRT. I will try the kettle tomorrow.
