Or if you've got close to 2GB internal memory to install apps on... ;)

I may be missing something, but I cant get notification sounds to work, shows up on the notification bar when a message comes through, but no sound which doesn't really help if the screen is off now does it? HTC Desire, custom 2.2 Froyo ROM (Leedroid 2.1a)

Doesn't sign in for me, at all and doesn't even seem to try to communicate either on my WiFi or via 3G because it's that quick. I'm on a Desire 2.2

Wait, does this Android version of Sykpe work on the phone's WiFi connection?
I seriously doubt it.

Yes mine runs when only wifi is enabled. It works good, but there is a lot of places to improve! HTC Desire - Custom ROM

Same here, the one on Verizon(the one that was exclusive to them only till yesterday) was restricted to cellular connections initially but an update was pushed through that people could use both their cell network and Wi-Fi.

This is a crosspost but no one provided an adequate answer to my original question, so I solved the login problem myself (HTC Desire). Turns out that if you exit Skype using the home button, it's still runnning in the background. To switch off, go to settings > applications > running services. Turning Skype (15Mb!) off and on again solved the log in problem. I did several test calls and connections are a bit dodgy. Call quality via WiFi is adequate but I get better on my PC.
So far, it's a fail from Skype.
