Found a 8ta leaflet outside CNA Kenilworth Center yestreday afternoon with some tariffs.

8ta - SA mobile and other (Off-net) - R1.50/min
8ta - 8ta - R1.50/min
8ta - national landline (Telkom and Neotel) - R0.65/min
SMS/MMS - R0.50
International SMS/MMS - SMS R1.50 / MMS per 300KB R4.50
Data - R1.00/MB

- For every three seconds you receive a call, you get one second free talk time.
- Free minutes will accumulate immediately, but will only be available for use the following month.
- Free minutes offer is valid for a limited promotional period.
- Send 5 SMS's and get 50 Free for use on that day only.
- No carry-over of free minutes/SMS's.

Prepaid Internet 100MB - R50
Prepaid Internet 250MB - R100
Prepaid Internet 500MB - R150
Prepaid Internet 1GB - R250

- Prepaid, once-off and add-on data bundles will expire at the end of the next calender month from the date of activation.
- Inclusive data bundles will expire at the end of a month.
- SMS notifications will be sent at 50%, 80% and 100% of data usage.
- Trickle feed speed will be throttled to 35KB/s.

Definitly not interesting enough to jump to Heita with these prices. I dont see any advantage for me to jump. So staying with vodacom for mobile and jumping to Cell c for internet.
 
New guys keep it clean!

Guys these are the same rates i paid before, exp for the free min's and sms thing. Data bundles too (THOU im happy that is available on pre-paid at last!).

If you a WHOIS on 8ta.com and Heita.co.za, you will see that they are both registered to Adams & Adams Attorneys South Africa. So the 2 names are definitely linked. I think the name 8ta is better than Heita. Looks cooler, funkier, more webby, and geeky.
 
I dont get it, most Telkom GSM towers are at exchanges right ?
Why is the GSM data rates still so expensive compared to adsl/wimax then ?
Purely in it for the money ?

These tariffs are definitely going to be re-visited when the take up is going to be slow.
