Hi,

At work our system generates PDFs and these PDFs are emailed to managers, etc. I can open these PDF's on my pc no problem, but when we tried to open them on an HTC or Samsung Galaxy S (both Android) it does not want to open. I've installed Adobe Reader for both these phones, but no luck.

We can open other PDF files, but just not these ones. The PDFs are 22.23KB in size (PDF version 1.3(Acrobat 4.x)), fonts in the file are Arial-BoldItalicMT, Arial-BoldMT, Arial-ItalicMT, ArialMT.

The manager that is using the HTC now, previously had a Blackberry (or Nokia, not sure now) and he could open these files.

Any suggestions?

Is it only the PDF's coming from the work system that does not open, or any other PDF as well?

EDIT: Either way, the app I use to view PDF's is Beam Reader (http://www.appbrain.com/app/beamreader-pdf-viewer/com.slgmobile.beamreader)

Only the PDF's from our work seems to be a problem on the phones, but on a PC it works fine. I will try 'Beam Reader', thanks.

Do you get any error message?

It says 'cannot open file' or 'the file might be corrupt'. A friend of mine ran pdfinfo on the file and got the following,

Error: PDF file is damaged - attempting to reconstruct xref table...
Error (20885): Dictionary key must be a name object

I emailed our support company in the UK to check it out.

I regularly check work pdf reports generated with fop on my Galaxy S and it works well in both Adobe Reader and Thinkfree Office

^^ Me too, I haven't had any issues with pdfs and other supported formats (Thinkfree Office suite supported formats that is) on my SGS. This then suggest that the problem might be on the pdfs.

Don't you think it might be because the page size is A3?

No, I open the PDF on my pc and recreated it with 'CutePDF Writer' and emailed it to my cell. I could open it up, no problem. It's something to do with the application that the company use and how it creates the PDF's, unfortunately our supplier just said the following,

"Sorry we will not be able to help any further with this as we don’t support PDF compatibility on mobile phones"
